Deus Ex gets high score from PC Gamer in first review

PC Gamer’s gone and done the world’s first review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The review is full of praise for the Eidos Montreal reboot in the new issue, currently on its way to subs, giving it a 94 percent. For reference sake, the original got a 95 percent, while Invisible War was given an 92 percent. PC Gamer called HR a “dark, cool and beautiful revival of an incredible game.” Mint.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution launches next month – August 23 in the US, August 26 in the UK – for PS3, 360 and PC. Thanks, Beefjack.

I always discount the ‘world exclusive first review’. :-)

Fair dos, but from what I seen of it in Cologne last year, it looks set to be pretty good. Then again, it was a year ago. :D

I’m still hopeful it’ll be cool. Some of the podcast coverage has made it sound a bit lacking, though.

The TGster requires no demo. Already pre-ordered. Just another few weeks now. /hibernates

@4 I asked Jean-Francois Dugas about that in February. He didn’t say anything then. Honestly, if you were going to get a demo, it would have been announced by now, tbh. Don’t think you’re going to get it, I’m afraid.

August 26th… I didn’t realise it was coming out so late in the month. It feels like the wait for all the awesome games is really dragging on.

>while Invisible War was given an 92 percent.

Sounds like it was the Dragon Age 2 of its day then. High review scores, reviled by the majority, a disappointing sequel to a much beloved title, and suffering from a high degree of consolification.

Let’s hope DA3 gets as much of an improvement as DE3 seems to have gotten. :)

@11 But here’s the problem:
PC Gamer also gave 94 to Dragon Age 2…

@KAP
they get a “review copy” usually, which is not gold master (which is for the public)

PC Gamer’s reviews are a joke these days. 92 for DX2? 94 for DA2? Please.

That said, I was pretty impressed with what I played of the leaked press build. Not quite as good as the original but a lot better than DX2.

The game will end up 80-85 at metacritic.

Everything about this game strikes me as doing just enough to be a respectable reboot of the series and true to the original, without having the anywhere near the same impact or wow factor… not to mention the cult status…

I’ll definitely be getting this at some point, but I think the original is fairly untouchable.
