Sonic the Hedgehog turns 20 today

Sega’s blue wonder Sonic the Hedgehog turns 20 today. The first Sonic game released on June 23 in North America and Europe on Mega Drive 20 years ago. Anniversary celebrations have already consisted of the release of an iOS app that catches you up on Sonic-related happenings, as well as a demo of Sonic Generations on PSN later today and other Sonic-related deals for the PS Store. There’s also a packshot of the game below. We’ve posted the PS3 version, but the 360 version looks the same, sans the logos, etc.

Happy birthday, Sonic!

20′s practically geriatric for a hedgehog. Kinder to take him out behind the barn with a double-barrelled shotgun and put us all out of our misery. :-D

Wow… I suddenly feel old now. Still, Happy Birthday little Blue. The game that made me fall in love with Sega Mega Drive.
