Mass Effect 3 takes EEDAR's best-of-show E3 crown

Industry analyst EEDAR has named Mass Effect 3 as the most promising retail product of E3 2011, based on consumer interest.

Gamasutra reports EEDAR observed the habits of 20 million Vvisitors to IGN and GameTrailers during E3 week.

Mass Effect 3 topped the charts, recording more page views than any other of the massive titles on show this year, as gamers eagerly devoured new videos.

EEDAR now estimates the game could sell up to 20 percent more than Mass Effect 2, which shifted over 2 million copies in its first week.

Mass Effect 3 is due in early 2012, but it managed to out-perform several weighty releases set for the last few months of 2011 - Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, and Uncharted 3.

Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite, both hailed widely as stars of the show, each score surprisingly low, perhaps due in part to pre-show asset releases for the former, and a modest presence for the latter.

On the platform holder front, EEDAR found Nintendo to have garnered the most interest, with the Xbox 360 winning out in the individual platform sweeps.
