Jagged Alliance: Back in Action due October 18

Kalypso has whacked a North American release date on PC classic remake Jagged Alliance: Back in Action.

Originally announced as a prettified remake of Jagged Alliance 2, Back in Action seems to have evolved into something else in the meantime.

Gamespot reports the game features something called a “plan & go” mode, which introduces real-time gameplay elements.

The original Jagged Alliance titles were resolutely turn-based isometric tactics games in the X-COM vein.

The game sees players journeying to Arulco, a country in the grips of an unpleasant dictator, there to recruit a number of mercenaries and rebel.

The PX exclusive is due on OCtober 18; no word yet on European dating.

I’m sure the European release won’t take longer, the game is being developed by a German team. I loved Jagged Alliance 2 and of course had my doubts, but after reading a preview in “Gamestar” (a German pc magazine) I’m actually convinced that this game could be worthy of its name.

Hopefully Jagged Alliance 2, can run on PSP(Digital download) from Sony Store… i bet lotta gamers will pick JA2 up… and the price would be $10,-, the JA2 PC game wasn’t even 1GB, most basic memcard for the PSP is 2GB, or more…

By the looks of it they’re making it a realtime/pause game. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad.

Jagged Alliance 2 was outstanding, but Silent Storm really gave it a run for its money.

Saw the gameplay on Gametrailers.com

Wow, they didn’t even try with the graphics.

I remember that one trailer for Jagged Alliance 3 when it was made by a russian developer. That looked way better and that was 4 years ago or something. Shame they canceled it. Looked a lot like an updated version of Silent Storm.
