Epic opening for The Old Republic gets out
On a scale of one to ten, this ranges at holy fucking shit.

BioWare’s released the opening cinematic for Star Wars: The Old Republic, come in at just under six-and-a-half minutes long.
The clip, all in CG, sees the Sith returning after a 1,000 year period and kicking off an almighty fight against the Jedi.
Epic doesn’t even bother coming close to describing this. Watch the video below.
Despite E3 this week, The Old Republic still doesn’t have a date as yet.

Just goes to show that Bioware should be making Star Wars movies and not bother with a WoW wannabe.

@2
And Blizz should make WarCrat movies instead of an Everquest wannabe? lol xD

Looks cool but ofc unfortunately not representative of any gameplay. I think they should make the game AND a movie.

@2 I doubt Bioware made that because most of the Old Republic cinematics are done by Blur Studio.
LucasArts get Blur Studio to make a Star Wars film rather than releasing shitty cartoons.

Droid beat me too it…
It’s a total shame that no matter what they try, there’s no way the game can be even vaguely representative of this and still have it as a grind-happy MMO.

Bioware doesn’t make these Cinematics its all done by the Blur studio same goes for Mass Effect and Dragon Age, all of them are done by either Blur or another studio.

This proves that Star Wars movies can be great. Start making more of them already!

They should seriously make a Star Wars CG movie. That’s better than the Star Wars movies, and the CG ‘cartoon’ by a factor of a big fucking factor.

Shame the combat wont live up to this! After watching the live developer Q&A and play through, combat looked simply dull. http://live-event.ea.com/e3/chat/star-wars
Sure, trying to answer questions and play isnt easy but come on, the Bounty Hunter standing INFRONT of a Sand Person playing out the same kind of crappy combat that is in WoW

Great cinematic there, totally agree with people who say it’s better than the movies and cartoon.
Really looking forward to the game too, can’t wait.

i still dont get what this is gonna be.
Will it be like WoW or like Mass Effect?
online only or a single player campaign? i dont get it.
a Mass Effect-like game set in the Star Wars universe would be rather awesome

This was up on the SWTOR website several days ago. Still freaking awesome though!
They should have shown it at the E3 press conference really. People keep saying there wasn’t enough time in the conference to show it, all I can say to that is “EA should have made bloody time!”.
