XLGames to make MMO for Asian market on 2K IP

Take Two’s announced this afternoon that its signed a new deal with Asian company XLGames to create and publish an MMO based on one of 2K’s “top-selling franchise.”

The name of the IP in question was not named, but development has been under way for the past year. It’ll also currently be for the Asian market

“One of 2K’s key long-term initiatives is to bring our groundbreaking, triple-A entertainment experiences to broader audiences through emerging online platforms and markets,” said 2K president Christoph Hartmann.

“Our partnership with XLGAMES underscores our ongoing commitment to expanding 2K’s presence in online gaming and the Asian market by leveraging our creative expertise with companies that are proven leaders.”

XLGames boss Jake Song added: “We have already been working together for a year on the game, and I can tell you this is one of the most exciting projects that I’ve ever undertaken. I cannot wait to launch this collaboration, which illustrates our shared development talent and passion to create cutting-edge entertainment experiences. in the region.

“With the addition of the XLGAMES partnership, we have now announced three exciting projects to develop online games in Asia.”

    BioShock, most likely.

    For one, it’d be the most likely to appeal to the Asian markets, as they tend to prefer more flavourful settings rather than the same-old, same-old with guns and more guns, and also because the first BioShock was translated for release in Japan.
