So what is the price for mainland Europe? You know, the big part that uses Euro.

Wifi only – €479, €579, €679
3G – €599, €699, €799

Edit2: So we are paying roughly €40 more than people in the UK. And over a €100 more than those in the States…

Although they do share the same VR tech in their GPU’s, isn’t the NGP’s (PowerVR SGX 543 MP4+) more powerful simply because it has four cores versus the iPad 2′s ( PowerVR SGX 543MP2) two?

#6 – iPad’s GFX chip is a dual core SGX????, NGP’s is a Quad-core SGX???+ with some extra tuning plus the ability for low-level code, so ballpark four times faster.

@15 – I know how akin they’re, you don’t need a link to say 4/2 = 2. the extra tuning is yet to be confirmed. while it’s true that you can’t do the same low level optimizations for img sdk on ios, it would speed up the stuff for no more than 50 percent, depending on the game anyway. that wouldn’t be nowhere near the four times figure.

#19 – console developers have spent many years beavering away tweaking graphics through pipelines and rendering orders to get more stuff out of a chip – I’m amazed at what massive rabbits they can pull out tiny hats, and the incentive to push NGP to the limits will be present in a far wider percentage of NGP developers than it will for most iPad coders.

So, chip has two more cores = twice as fast
Chip has extra features = + one
Coders doing fancy stuff = + one

Its only a guess, I’ll go down to 3.5 if you like, but its a guess based on observation and historical awareness

@20 ah, I figured you were talking about some more hardware tuning by the makers. see. there’s the smart visual arts as well. that is besides the point though.

I know, albeit the further down the line the more money is being put into mobile titles, and you also have someone like Fishlabs who’ve been doing the mobile stuff for years. So it should be getting better.

Those prices are fucking mental. A new slogan for Apple should be “Apple, making products for stupid, gullible people”.
