Rumor – Konami investigating a separate Downpour chapter devoted entirely to multiplayer

Radek Marek, art director on Silent Hill: Downpour, Xbox 360 Magazine Italy that Konami’s looking to release a multiplayer title of the franchise on XBLA.

While Downpour itself won’t feature multiplayer for the moment, Marek said a separate chapter with the mode is being looked into.

“At the moment there will be no multiplayer modes in Silent Hill: Downpour, but Konami are investigating a separate chapter devoted entirely to the multiplayer,” said Marek.

“We do not know the details but it should be an XBLA title that most players have to survive in the town of Silent Hill.”

Vatra Games’ new entry into the franchise stars an escaped prisoner named Murphy Pendleton, who unwittingly arrives in the town of Silent Hill after his prison bus crashes.

Silent Hill: Downpour will release for PS3 and Xbox 360 this autumn.

I’ve long since given up being surprised by anything that happens to Silent Hill these days.

Though saying that, Homecoming was a weird ass game. It’s clear, someone, somewhere in that studio knew what they fuck they were doing with that game, but everyone else had only seen the film. Some stuff in it is amazingly deep and very SH, most of it though is schlocky action horror romp.

I think it will be more like a CO OP. Why is SH dead? new ideas are always welcomed. If it wont work, just go back to original roots.

I support this. This is what most game developers should do when a game doesn’t need MP but some crack pot wants it go get the DLC for it. Its not part of the actual game so I don’t need to see the Multiplayer option on a single player game.
