GT Academy EU to kick off on March 4
Sony’s just announced details of this year’s GT Academy, which will kick off on March 4 in Europe.

The publisher will hold the contest, which has been running since 2009, to find a driver and train them to become a real-life racer using Gran Turismo 5.
A time trial for this year’s event will go live on the Seasonal Events page in GT5 on March 4, and will run until April 17.
The US also has its own GT Academy ongoing, but has recently suffered some problems with cheaters.

The patch they release on Friday had better damn well fix the problems the US Academy had, like collision physics and shortcuts.
Polyphony delivered with the first big update, here’s hoping they deilver with the second one ^_^

@12: I have no delusions of being even close to good enough to compete, and I’m pretty damn good at the game.

@13 – Get going son !
@14 – Never know unless you try ?!
I look forward to seeing the event appear in-game. I’m pretty far from average, and I’m excited to see where my skill fits in with the pros !

“The nations best Call of Duty players, made into marines and sent to Afghanistan.”
My favourite imaginary headline of the day.

I tried last time. I think I was something like 1,200th out of 80,000 or something like that. You need insane skills (or a combination of good skills and a ton of time) to break the top 100.

Being able to claim that you’re in the top 2% of GT5 players in your region is quite something. I think so anyway.
I don’t really have the time.. so we’ll see how far skill takes me.

A friend of mine here in the states is now awaiting round 3, they pushed the date back because of all the shortcuts and people trying to “cheat”.

Possibly… I’m normally in the top 1% of gamers on leaderboards, but the difference between the top 1% and the top 0.1% is HUUUUUGE.
