No multiplayer for Arkham City, confirms Rocksteady
Despite a previous report which seemed to suggest it was in the game in some form, Rocksteady has confirmed that multiplayer will not feature in Batman: Arkham City.
Studio boss Sefton Hill confirmed that the game was a “a “‘single-player only’ experience.”
“Our thought process behind this was fairly simple: when we investigated adding multiplayer we asked, ‘If we use all of the energy that is required to create multiplayer and instead focus this on the single player, would that deliver a better overall game?’,” Hill told IGN.
“With the game now coming to the final stages, I can honestly say it would not have been possible to deliver Arkham City the way we wanted to if we’d have added multiplayer.
“So it might not be the fashionable choice, it might not get us an extra tick on the box, but we are convinced, and we hope that gamers will agree when they get to play the finished game, that we have made the right decision. ”
Batman: Arkham City releases this fall for PS3, 360 and PC.

Ahh The force is strong in Rocksteady. I was a bit worried when I heard MP might be in Arkham City. Now I have no worries for the game.
Kudos to you Rocksteady.

God, I hope this game does well and helps other devs make the same decision about their singleplayer games. Neither BioShock, Dead Space or Assassin’s Creed needed multi player.
Can’t wait for Arkham City.

@3: Assassin’s Creed MP not only works, but fits in very well with the game. The other two, i can agree with you on though.

Good, that means all the efforts will be in a fantastic Single Player, where the effort belongs.

if people cannot make multiplayer game for a single player game, why don’t they just go the Demon Soul route?
i love demon’s soul multiplayer feature.

Good. They should concentrate on making the best single player campaign. Leave multiplayer to the games that NEED multiplayer.

Very good decision !
I prefer, like the first game, a VERY good single player game with strong content.
MP is good, but only when the games are aimed toward this (and I could hardly see a justification for multiplayer in a game like Arkham Asylum)
