No “Grey” edition to grace Pokémon Black and White

Sunday, 13th February 2011 22:51 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Pokémon developer Gamefreak has said current iteration Black and White will not see a “director’s cut” third entry, putting paid to persistent rumblings of a Pokémon “Grey”.

At a press event in London last week, Gamefreak’s Mana Ibe told the Spanish MeriStation that with Black and White, the developer had finished with this generation.

Previous generations have often expanded to include a third title, such as the original Red and Blue’s Pikachu-themed Yellow edition.

Pokémon Black and White release in the UK on March 4, the US on March 6, and in Australia on March 10.

Thanks, D’Toid.

I imagine this was probably a completely intentional move on their part, purely so they focus their attention on the inevitable 3DS Pokemon titles.

Get those out of the part early and bam, there you go, a few million more 3DSes sold.

Can someone please explain to me why they’re selling the same game twice in the first place? Well sure they’re not forcing me to buy the other, but they’ve cut some stuff out of one to punish us, you would be surprised how many people buy both main versions then the special edition, I’m actually surprised that they aren’t doing a Grey version just for the 3DS, would make a perfect launch title…

@3 A first for the series, Black and White have cart specific areas too now, so it’s no longer get the game that has the exclusive pokemon ye like. I do agree tho, and as a Pokemon fan, would prefer if there was just the one game cart, if they wanted to keep the difference in obtainable pokemon, then just assign it to the gender of ye trainer.
