Source – Sony to announce PSP2 in Tokyo on January 27
VG247 has learnt that Sony it to hold a “business overview and strategy meeting” in Tokyo on January 27, and has been told that Sony will use the event as a reveal platform for PSP2.
Nothing is known of the meeting’s content, but we do know that only “very select press” are attending.
Sources have said this morning that PSP2 will be announced at the showcase.
Sony has declined to comment on the chatter this morning.
In the wake of VG247 publishing this story, MCV has gone live with its own piece claiming “trade sources have confirmed” the console is to be announced at the event.
The console, which is currently under wraps, is expected to be released later this year.
Going by the codename VITA, PSP2 has been in the hands of developers for at least a year. VG247 published the first images of a development kit last November.
Netherrealm Studios and EA have openly said they’ve been working with the machine.
This is the megaton. Don’t blink.

It makes sense for them to announce it properly now, before the 3DS hype train gets into full swing. Interested to see what they’ve done.

The PSPhone isn’t even a “PSPhone”. It’s a Sony Ericsson Xperia. Sony should have cleared that up AGES ago before everyone got confused.

I love my PSP , I usually play PlayStation Classics on it from time to time. If PSP2 has another ANALOG stick, I will buy it.
But I rather see a PS4 with more RAM and more powerful overall and Android apps rather then PSP2.

OMG, there is a PSP2? Oh wait.. no.. that was known already. So that means the PSP2 is the worst secret in the world. The moment sony “announces” it, the whole world already knew of it. Sony, give up, this is stupid.

@Lightmanone so does the Iphone 4, I don’t see anyone complaining, it’s a known marketing strategy and the fact that Sony is using it only shows how much they are going to invest in it, freaking 25+ developers including EA? it’s gonna be legen…wait for it DARY!

Maybe Sony should have an Android OS partition on the PSP2, give it a little while & ppl would have hacked it on there anyways…
