Namco UK’s new marketing director, Lee Kirton, has told VG247 that the firm is still aiming for a top five publisher position, saying the company still has a “host” of new games to show.

“Our goal is still to be a top five publisher,” said the exec, referencing an aim announced by UK vice president John Galloway in 2009 to achieve the goal on a global level.

“The titles i’m working on include TDU2, Dr Kawashima Kinect, Yoostar 2, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, The Witcher 2, Earth Defense Force and Tekken X Streetfighter, along with a host of new titles soon to be announced.”

Kirton has just assumed his new role as marketing director of Namco Bandai UK, overseeing all marketing and PR activity as well as working on third-party product deals.

He’s a well-known figure in the UK trade, rising up through customer services, PR assistant, PR executive, PR manager and head of PR, before landing his previous role of marketing manager.

Despite a long rise to the top, though, Kirton’s not jaded: “I’m excited and as passionate as ever,” he said.

I mean…who has the last word`? Namco JP? Namco Bandai JP? Enslaved was very beta-like on the PS3, Majin had not enough PR and Tekken 6…eh..nough said. But bringing Demon Souls…was a AAA+ move…love you guys for this!

But even if Enslaved sucked a lil bit, I like it when non-mainstream games are getting published.

    BTW…a other thing:

COULD YOU DO SOMETHING TO MAKING SOME TALES GAMES COMING TO EUROPE?
Tales of Vesperia PS3…Tales of Grace F…this would make you to one of TOP 5 publishers. Take the seat Square Enix always had, because they suck now.

We know what is needed to be done to compete with the top publishers and this is something that’s being worked on. We are working on titles for European and the western market.

If you bring more titles westward you may just break into my top 5, but it wont be easy
    my top 5 are

Konami (default top due to Suikoden, Vandal Hearts etc)
Koei (I love sengoku jidai games)
    Rising Star Games
Atlus (not more needed to be said there)
NISAmerica (again nothing needed to be said)

you have hard time getting top 5 i’ll admit but you could take 5th, if more tales games come out here. the fact your are bringing out more earth defense force is good though.

My bottom, five are in Descending order

    Capcom
    Ubisoft
    Activision
505 Games (they have fallen alot)
    SouthPeak

As a major Japanese organisation I can say that we will always bring incredible Japanese licenses to Europe and western markets. More so than in previous years. We will also invest in new IP (like the fantastic under rated Enslaved) and work towards developing games for western gamers. We have a plan that covers all areas. Wait until you see Ace Combat Assault Horizon and some new announcements over e next couple of months. Gamers ‘like me’ will not be dissapointed.

@lkirton well i’ll keep an open mind to see what namco will do this year, i sdmit the anouncement of earth defense games has given a good start, some tales coming here and a few new projects and you’ll be well on your way. If you could bring out some of your back catalogue (namely tales)too that would definately impress me personally.

Europe could also do with a nice Xenosaga HD mix like the God of War and Sly Cooper HD stuff recently released by Sony. One of the finest series of games that only the weakest in the series got released (the second one) with poor support. Plus the US versions were censored to hell making some scenes baffling to watch.

And as everyone else says, bring Tales games out west, I mean seriously, we want them, give them to us.

Not going to crack the top with japan only games. Outside of a small circle of people, those games don’t sell anymore. They just don’t hold up next to the better games that are made outside of japan.

Still got the Dreamcast! I remember that.
