Yu Suzuki: "I want to make" Shenmue 3

shenmue

That wound on our heads? That's from banging the table again.

Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki has told Famitsu he wants to create Shenmue 3.

"I want to make three with the same volume as in the past," he told the magazine following a press conference yesterday on spin-off Shenmue Town.

"There have actually been a lot of requests from fans for three as well. There were even petitions signed by by tens of thousands of people."

The tiny problem with the project it actually ever happening is the fact that it would cost a huge amount of money. This is something Sega has touched upon before, having previously said it'll give exclusivity rights to a first-party platform if it invests in the project.

"Shenmue has the image of grand scale," added Suzuki. "But making something of grand scale requires appropriate preparation."

Mike Hayes, president of Sega West, recently said that Shenmue 3 is never off the table.

Expect it in 2050, then.

Thanks, IGN.
