Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit reviews start going live – EG goes with 9

nfshp2

Yeah. This is going to be awesome.

The first couple of reviews have gone live for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit ahead of a flood later today.

Consensus for the Criterion reboot is that it is, as thought, amazingly awesome.

Get the first lot below. Once the influx starts, we’ll add them here.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit launches next Tuesday in the US and next Friday in the UK for PS3, 360, PC and Wii.

I might pick this up, due to those scores.

Wouldn’t have bothered before.

…unless it turns out to be a giant BUGFEST, like the last NFS!

I’d be all over this if it wasn’t for the input lag.

I was very surprised to find such laggy controls coming from Criterion.

If it can be patched then that would be great as the rest of the game is superb, IMO.

It’s great to see that a tired series of games has been treated with respect.

Day one purchase for me.
That demo was hugely outdated code, the rear view mirror wasn’t even fully functional yet. So after those glowing reviews, i’m not worried.

I could maybe be persuaded to give this a whirl, but not at full price. The demo was sort of fun, but not as much fun as Burnout. It kind of made me hope that they’re moving on to do a new Burnout project next.

@6: I put that down to the car rather than an actual control issue.

I didn’t like it that much. Technically it’s a high quality piece of work, but ultimately a shallow mixture of Burnout and NFS. I went with “ok” 6/10 at Gamereactor.fi…

TBH, they had me at Criterion.

After playing it at gamescom twice, I knew it had to be with me.

It really is a wicked game. You should pick it up.

@6 and @10
Yeah it’s partly the earlier car, but the game as a whole has gone for quite a heavy handling model compared to something like Burnout. It’s partly the style they have gone for too, drifting gives you a lot more control over your vehicle.

I enjoyed the demo and even in that restricted environment the Autolog stuff was nicely done. Bit surprised that the demo is disabled already though as there is a week and a half before release still.

Eurogamer gives out 9s like its candy. Never do they mention about the bugs. After their OTT review of Spore and Bad Company 2, it will be a long time before I trust another EG review again

the only thing I didn’t like about the demo was the atrocious soundtrack, the game looks plenty of fun.
