Rumor: WoW Cataclysm pegged for early 2011 per retail listing
Blizzard hasn’t dated its World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm yet, but retailer Amazon seems to think it will be released in January.
According to several tips from Kotaku readers, folks who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition of the game from Amazon are receiving emails stating the estimated delivery date of the game will be as soon as January 4, 2011 or as late as January 18.
Here’s a sample of one of the emails below:
Hello from Amazon.com.
We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on August 17 2010 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx):
“World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector’s Edition”
Estimated arrival date: January 05 2011
The date itself is not listed on the Amazon website, but retail superstore Target has it listed for release on December 31, 2010.
We’ll mail Blizzard and see what it has to say on the matter, but we dont’ expect any information other than a possible “wait until BlizzCon next month”.
BlizzCon takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California October 22 and 23.

Gameplay also has it down as 31st Dec. Blizz need this out asap imo, there’s very little to do in WoW at present as it is.

People could… ooooh… I don’t know, take a break from the game until it comes out? It’s not like you *have* to play it.
That’s exactly what I’m doing until Cataclysm is released.

That’s exactly what I have been doing. I haven’t played WoW since February, I decided to wait till Cataclysm was released like alot of people. But I tend to get impatient after a while
.

@3 Aye, have been giving it a break for AGES now, was planning on playing properly when Cata’s out but if it’s next year doubt I’ll bother personally.

4.0.1 Will be coming out within 12 days since they said Season 8 of Arena is ending on the 12th and Blizzard did say when Season 8 for Arena ends when the next patch comes out.
Amazon is just pressing the random button on the date, its better to say it will release later and it actually be released sooner than to have a much earlier date and the game released after. Blizzard has said the plan is still to release the game 2010 multiple times on the forum.
Also this disproves the rumor of Amazon;
“Arena battles and Rated Battlegrounds are only available during an active player versus player combat season. Season nine will begin on December 14th, so be prepared at that time to take your shot at glory!”
Blizzard stated Season 9 would start a week after Cata releases.
The next Arena Season will begin for level-85 players approximately one week after the official launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

pretty stupid to make assumptions based on eshop release dates. they just choose whatever they THINK is right.
while there are much better guesses on WoW oriented websites.

Bah, stopped playing WoW about 2 years ago for the good of my health, and the more I see of this expansion the more I want back in!
