Dead Rising: Case Zero moves over 300,000 units in first week

deadrising22

“You’re probably just gonna use this to buy brains, but you know what, I’m feeling generous today. So here’s a fiver.”

“Bless you, sir.” [Sounds of brains being devoured, screams].

A quick look at Dead Rising: Case Zero’s Xbox Live leaderboards shows 328,290 entries, which suggests that just under 330,000 players have forked over five dollars for the downloadable title since its launch last week.

We’d call that experiment a success, Capcom. What say we celebrate with a Twinkie and party over at the local mall? It’s fun, cheap, and zombie apocalypse-proof! Yeah, we party hard, but most importantly, we party smart.

Thanks, Gamasutra.

330k in a week is pretty impresive I reckon.
Just goes to show how price sensitive the market is at the moment.
Better to sell 330k units at $5 than 100k at $10 both financially and from a marketing perspective.
Well done Capcom, you’ve showcased your game to a lot of gamers and made some cash on the side.

That’s an impressive number of units, and certainly the low price must have had something to do with it. Good, hopefully more dl games will follow suit.

I don’t know if 300k is impressive, but I know that this game is ;) Really looking forward to DR2 know, but still have to see some endings and get some achievements in Case Zero, very enjoyable.

That’s rather a lot! Perhaps Microsoft could take a look at these figures and some of the rather more disappointing ones from the Summer of Arcade promotion and finally realise that not everything needs to be 1200 points.

I’m way more open to pre game release DLC like this

I’m sure the Mass effect 2 and Alan wake DLC are good and all that, but…i’ve finished the game! Donezo! On to the next. i’m not interested in going back 2 months later for an additional 2 hours

Every hyped up sandbox game could come with a pre game release story chapter like this and sell just as many

But, we’re yet to see if it’ll hurt the actually game sales. Before I bought case zero i had every intention on renting DR2, now….not so much

Now, if MS pulled their finger out and got rid of all this “This is not available for your region” nonsense, I might be able to test and -who knows- even buy this myself.

The price was good and it was a prequel to the game so it doesn’t ruin the actual game for you. Clever Capcom.

At $5.00 US..and the type and quality of the game shows that with a Poor US Economy you can move more and make more if you price it right!

In Simple Economics we learned better to move 500 Units at $1.00 then 100 units at $2.00!

ME2 and DAO New DLC could learn a lesson from this!!

Do you think anyone will learn the simply yet important lesson from this?? I doubt it..Greed tends to, well, blind gaming companies!
