Gas Powered Games head Chris Taylor has made first mention of a sequel to PC action-RTS Demigod, speaking at gamescom last week.

“We made an investment in that game and we spent a lot of money on it. Now, some things have happened since that; we’ve got a lot of interest in a sequel to Demigod,” said Taylor, speaking to

“Maybe the kids will go to college if we do a really good job on the sequel, and we can make some of the money back that we invested in the core game and the core IP.”

Try to avoid the pirates this time

Demigod, developed by GPG and published by Stardock, was a textbook example of what can happen if you don’t have adequate anti-piracy measures in place for a PC launch.

In its first week on sale, the game was played by more than 120,000 people online and only bought 18,000 times.

Stardock boss Brad Wardell issued a furious response to the numbers, saying, “piracy pisses me off.”

He added at the time: “If you’re playing a pirated copy right now, if you’re one of those people on Hamachi or GameRanger playing a pirated copy and have been for more than a few days, then you should either buy it or accept that you’re a thief and quit rationalizing it any other way.”

Taylor made no other mention of the sequel last week, however, so you’ll have to wait for details.

I don’t think it was that much interesting to play solo, but I had a blast playing it on local network with some friends.

I really liked Demigod, so I’m hoping they make a sequel. But please don’t let Stardock publish it. Stardock are completely ignoring Europe with Elemental, and after reading Wardell’s comments it’s pretty clear that the European retail market is no longer interesting to them.

^ That’s untrue, Elemental box copies are supposed to be offered at online Europe retailers(Amazon uk etc)and of course through online purchase and download via Stardock’s Impulse client. They’re just not stocking boxes at physical retail stores in Europe.
