LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta “coming soon”

lbp2

Media Molecule has confirmed a Beta for LittleBigPlanet 2 will be making its way to PS3 soon.

Although there was no specific information, the developer said it’ll have more news on how it will recruit for the Beta soon.

The post also promised those who are already Beta testers will definitely get a go.

SCEE previously said the taster was coming “fairly soon” back at E3 in June.

LittleBigPlanet 2 releases on November 16 in the US, while a European date is unknown.

Thanks, LBPCentral.

@1 You got royally screwed over for even bothering to waste your money on such a haphazard scheme. =P

Can’t wait to play this. The original is one of my favourite games… well… ever.

@5
Why do you need a Beta for anything. Test stuff, provide feedback, stress test servers, advertising the game, hype etc.

Would be good if they did use PSN+ for Beta access. Certainly beats chucking a load of codes through a failing website where those with the most luck, time and persistence of pressing f5 get in.

This game is going to sell so bad :( and it deserves to be GOTY.

@7 What are you babbling about? The first one sold a tonne, and that was two years ago when the playerbase was smaller to boot.

The game will sell just fine.

@8 We’ll see but I think it will still deserve another 5 million + of what it will do normally. This game is just too ambitious for all types of gamers not to buy.

Basically if you own a PS3 buy this game. I’ll even go out on the limb and say this game deserves to be on all platforms too and it makes SONY seem selfish to have exclusive rights.

@11 A game like this would never appear on the 360, due to the very closed nature of the Xbox Live service. Compared to the Playstation Network, which is a much more open platform.

If the single player campaign isn’t a significant improvement on the first one, I wont be.

@Boris, i like Bungie’s Halo community, i could go onto any pc & download a map or gametype straight to my file share, i have no idea how Bungie manage this so effectively, maybe the fact that it’s THE top priority for MS, they give Bungie full access to whatever they want, in order to make the game better

@12 The single player campaign levels are some of the most ingenously designed 2D platforming seen in decades. A significant improvement on any of that design would be staggering. A small improvement would be pretty splendid given the existing quality the original campaign levels.

@13 Microsoft afforded Bungie far greater access to their ‘walled garden’ than any third party developer could get. Thus assuring current-gen Halo to have a unique feature set that no other game on the platform could compete with.

@ 14 – ok i liked LBP and love the concept more than the game tbh just bcos i dont have any inclination to create my own content unfortunately but the single player wasnt THAT good come on!

@13 Fun as Halo may be, comparing Halo’s Forge features to LittleBigPlanet’s (or even Modnation Racers’) Play Create Share toolset is a bit like comparing a kindergarten play-room to a 200-person playground with every single plyyground ride ever invented in it.

@14 “Walled garden”? I like that. I might have to steal that phrase, if you don’t mind. =P

chances are it probably will be for PS+ subscribers. If Sony/MM don’t do it that way they would defo have to be mental.

I really liked the single player part of LBP too and felt some of the levels/sets of levels were exceptional design wise. I think that was partly due to the overall game aesthetics mind – graphics, sound, music fitting together so well. In the same way a Mario game can be as clever as you like, but the look and feel really grates with me – so it kills some of that good work.

The best levels are the user created ones. Things that don’t even seem possible. It’s mind boggling how talented some people are. There are well over 2 million levels to date. So if you’re not a creative person by nature, there’s more than enough user generated content to keep you occupied.

I doubt I’ll bother getting this.

Still havent finished the first LBP. The platforming mechanics are just too vague to accomodate anything more than simple ‘press right and occasionally jump’ levels.

Love the aesthetic, but the gameplay lets it down. Seems to be a general trend with PS3 games.

@19 I can’t wait to see what people come up with with the extended toolset available in the next game.

Did you see the “Wipeout” level? Brilliant.

@20 You can’t really “finish” LittleBigPlanet anyway.

@16 ‘Walled Garden’ isn’t mine to offer, but thanks for asking.

I would like to offer this community “twunt”, however. I’m sure its meaning is apparent to most readers. ;)
