Microsoft, Burger King team up for Kinectimals deal

kinectimals

Microsoft’s announced its teaming up with Burger King to have small, interactive Kinectimals plush toys in its kids meals. Brilliant.

The toys can also be scanned via Kinect and played with in the game. Once the animals are scanned, you can use them as toys for other main creatures in the game.

This video here should explain it a bit better.

Burger King has done game promotions before, having released its own game for 360 previously.

Kinectimals launches this November alongside Kinect itself.

Thanks, GamesRadar.

This is the first we’ve heard of Kinect actually ‘scanning in’ stuff since the BS, sci-fi promo video back when it was first announced.

EDIT: Actually no, just watched the video and it scans in stuff the same way EyePet sees those cards you get with it. It isnt seeing the giraffe, its seeing a tag its got on it.

Clever though, for both companies.

Disappointed. From the article title I assumed that you could make your very own ‘Kinectimeals’ – i.e. make a Kinectimal into a tasty Burger King burger and serve with french fries and a diet coke. Using Kinect motion controls to kill, skin, and slice up your plumpest Kinectimal and then cooking up a juicy burger out of it would have been great!

fuck you microsoft. fuck you and fuck you again. burger king knows of course very well that they are extremeley cruel to animals because of the meat mass production. for them a game like kinectimals is great to cheat stupid parents and kids and lure them into the illusion that everything is ok “oh look at this lion isn´t he cute”. it´s more like “oh look at this pig it´s guts are hanging out of his body and it´s still alive, isn´t that gross”. microsoft my ass. i hate this hypocritical marketing shit. i´m thinking about cancelling my new 360 preorder just because of this. seriously. let games be games and business gangsters be business gangsters.

@5. yes. that would be something honset…after they took care of their cute little animals for a long time and started to really like them they end up as a dead burger. i would definitely support this because it might open kids minds. the way it is now it just sedates them 1984 orwell style.

@7

You had one too many cans of Stella this morning? ;)

Disney, Pixar, Ninja turtles, He-man, Pokemon, Transformers, hell even my gran has teamed up with a burger chain at some point to lure in children.

This is hardly new or shocking behaviour.

noone said it´s new. but i avoided stuff like that (pixar, transformers etc.). but i love playing viedogames, especially on 360. also this time it´s different because it has a direct connection to animals. the kids even interact with animals in the game. and they also interact somehow with dead animals on their plate, because they are eating them. this is very clever from a paedagogical point of view. kids wont think about the killing process this way. they will think about how happy and funny their kinectimals are while eating the stuff. i know i´m really picky and i don´t want to piss anyone off. i just hate how this shit works sometimes – it makes me sick. might seem strange but i can´t help. i hate to use products that stand for things i hate. so i´m seriously thinking about saying bye bye to 360.

Fair enough.

You might also want to sell your Sony products: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3190/is_29_39/ai_n14819887/

Alternatively, you could ignore advertising campaigns and play what you enjoy. Just a suggestion.

I would have thought a ‘dash’ game where you actually go through the motions of flipping burgers, wiping up spilled sodas, explaining that the breakfast meal deals finished an hour ago and cleaning the toilets would be a more appropriate tie-in for these partners.

Get all the achievements and BK will take you on as a real life trainee!
