Jeri Ryan explains Mortal Kombat video

Jeri Ryan herself has taken to Twitter to explain to the masses just exactly what that bad-ass Mortal Kombat video we saw yesterday was all about.


Apparently, it was created by director Kevin Tancharoen in an effort to sell his vision to Warner Bros. Studios.

Here’s her tweets:

  • Tweet 1: Okay, so… Mortal Kombat.
  • Tweet 2: It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.
  • Tweet 3: More MK FAQs: I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB’s reaction to it was. And I’m not sure how you can contact WB…
  • Tweet 4: …(cont.) to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful…! ;-)

Told you I knew it. Something wasn’t right about. The acting wasn’t at the right level. She was ok but the black guy…he was too cheesy. I don’t like him in movies. The guy playing scorpion was pretty bad at his shocked head swings too.

It was done at a rookie level. Something that would have been A+ quality in high school drama 101 but not the silver screen.

How awesome would a game based on this movie be? A complete re-imagining of the franchise still firmly based on MK lore. They could make a game so twisted and so violent that it would re-ignite the controversy that made the original so unique and timeless. In a industry plagued with Halos, Rock bands and LBPs, Im sure Im not alone in saying that I would sell my first born to see a movie and game tie-in that live up to the potential of this one little 7 minute teaser.
