New Crysis 2 teaser is short, sweet, to the point

Saturday, 5th June 2010 07:12 GMT By Nathan Grayson

We have to say, the new Crysis 2 teaser knows its place. Some teasers bare all after a single cat-calling whistle, but not this one. You see a man, and you see a robo-walker whose family tree is probably littered with Metal Gears, and that is all.

Looks real purty-like, though. Check it out after the break.

When i saw Crysis 2 on consoles on GTTV i was shocked on how bad Crysis 2 was on consoles.
This is so ugly. It was like they specifically ported for consoles, they even consolised 4 powers.

YAAAY!!!! We have Crysis on on all platforms!!!1111 Well if this is Crysis on consoles then i’m a president of United States of america.
I saw bloorish textures, absolutely low resolution, LOW shaders, disgusting lightning, houses and other enviroment trees pop up near you.
Everything what i saw was at a low settings, with medium textures and medium bloor effects.

    This is just Greed.

    and this is FUCKING Crysis:

@Erthazus: I don’t think that anyone expected the console versions to look anything like the original Crysis on PC. For a multiplatform console game, the gameplay from GTTV looks pretty awesome.

Those screens still give me the chills. Its hard to believe that game is over 2 years old. I have still yet to see it at enthusiast setting running at 1920×1200, unfortunatly Crysis 3 will be out before that happens. I completely understand your frustration. Why the fuck would Crytek go backwards when they have so much better hardware to work with now? You said it yourself, the answer is Greed. Im still optimistic that the PC version of Crysis 2 will be a DX11 compatible beast that blows away the first one.
    Heres hopping.

@14 It’s not awesome. They even consolised 4 powers that you used in the original Crysis. They just made a casual powers now. Now you can’t combine them, you just use: Stealth, Strength and e.t.c.

Thats a consolised piece of shit. In the original Crysis you could make a combo, now you just can’t + AI will be worse. 512 MB Ram on consoles can’t create clever AI no matter how you will make your game on console.

Crytek games were always about the technology and depending on the graphics settings you will enjoy the game. Thats how it was since Far Cry 1.

@15 It blows me that they didn’t created Cryengine specifically for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. They just made a crossplatform engine. So basically you can port 360, PS3 version from PC with the lowest graphics settings. Oh, thats really stupid.

Game on consoles looks like CRAP from 2005 with consolised power suit system. When i saw a house that appeared near you i was like: What is this sh…?

whats different bout the powers this time round? I’m not actually aware of this

@17 They combined powers from the original Crysis. Now if you are going stealth, they give you ability to sneak only with cloak. So you choose stealth mode, or Guns Blazing mode.

Previously you could choose strength, Invisibility cloak, speed or armor and combine them how you want and when you want.
So basically you could shoot at the same time with armor ability, switch to strength, punch him and then run away with the speed mode.

Consoles are fucking this game really hard. + i don’t see something new from the Original Crysis. Gameplay is exactly the same. That is not bad at all, but they didn’t got something new. So no new abilities. It’s the same game like Warhead but in New York.

For me it looks like an expansion pack for console audience… Oh… I forgot…. WITH BAD GRAPHICS.

Were not talking about the teaser. Head over to GT and check out the gameplay footage.
In all honesty its not terrible given the limitations of the consoles. Its just sad that they are focusing so heavily on the console platform ($$$ anyone?) and thus dumbing down the hell out of the game. Theres still hope that the PC version will be a graphical beast like the first, and I think thats what most people want. Crytek franchises were never about being gerneric shooters, they were always about being novelties. The novelty of having the best computer to play it at the best settings and highest resolutions. I for one hope they dont loose sight of that.
