Capcom profit crashes 73% in full-year results

Capcom’s full-year figures were described by the firm as “sluggish” this morning, with net profit down over 73 percent to ¥2.2 billion ($24 million) for the 12 months ending March 31.
Sales collapses 27 percent compared to the previous year, down to ¥67 billion ($728 million).
The publisher, however, said to “expect a sharp rebound” in the next year thanks to the launch of “major titles”.
Specific games expected to aid a resurgence weren’t mentioned.

6 from IGN, so it’s probably at the Dark Void level.
Dissapointment after so many cool videos they had.

LP2 should be Monster Hunter with guns, and they screwed that up. I’m not sure, but from reviews it sounds what has gone wrong is the “with guns” part.

After Reading the Reviews at Metacritic for LP2..FORGET ABOUT IT!! NO WAY am I paying $60 USA for a game that has a Crappy Single Player experience. Save points are once again very RARE…and you will have to play over the entire Chapter. On top of that NO PAUSE…SAY WHAT…according to review you can’t pause the game do to the online component that it defaults to, so forget about taking a break to eat or piss…and with no saves in between chapters and the fact that AI can’t be given orders and won’t preform tasks in later levels is just all kinds of FUBAR…this game is once again a HOT MESS of all kinds!! I pre-bought this in hopes of having a Robust Single Player experience offline and then going back for online and co-op play..Cappie you just lost $60 USA Dollars Dood!

Sad. Maybe Tsujimoto-san should spend more time developing games, than on his vineyard …

I’ve not bought a single Capcom game yet this generation. Last gen I bought round about “loads”.

@4
Its scores are nowhere near as low as Dark Void.
Reading through the reviews its seems as if the biggest problems are the controls (which i agree with after the demo, the controls are utter shit) and the fact that you pretty much HAVE to play the game online/with other people because the AI is useless.
I’m still getting the game but only because i’m importing it from the UK for under half the price it would be here. After the PvP demo i already came to the conclusion that the game wasnt at all worth 70€.

Lets hope they dont arse Dead Rising 2 up. Its being made by a western dev so thats atleast giving abit of hope for a decent online system.

The demo of Dead Rising seemed okay but I wasn’t stoked for it. I’ll probably pick it up at some point if I’m running short on games, but there’s a load of stuff I’d rather play first.
The press previews of Dead Rising 2 have been rather lukewarm. I’m expecting more 6/10s.

But, but, but the trailers
i still would like to play through the campaign, but considering i didn’t play past the 3rd level off the first game, i’ll just end up disappointed
what is the point in the stupid hook shot? you can’t even attach to climbable services!
I’ll have to read through some reviews today

What i don’t get (4their games in general)is, how can they screw up on such things like: check/savingpoints and controls?! I still get angry, when i think of LP and the sucker who just dont stand up! Rockets everywere, big monsters on your six and the figure rolls in the snow and can’t get on his feet! Argh! Dont they test those games? Or the controls? Playability anyone? I Just dont get it.

It’s because they’re Japanese, and Japanese audiences expect very different things when it comes to controls. Western games always have a very hard time at TGS because the attending gamers find it very difficult to get to grips with how many Western games play – I seem to recall some games at last years show actually having different pods for Japanese and Western gamers with different control configurations on each.
That’s what screwed Resi 5 up. They tried to make it more Western for the Westerners but not entirely Western so as not to piss off the Japanese, and ended up pleasing pretty much nobody.

The only thing i didnt like about the controls is that they feel over-burdened, like ‘interact’ and ‘melee’ sharing the same button or the fact that to roll you have to hold down the analogue, push it in a direction then press jump.
Its really stupid when you see that 2 buttons are used for quick turning left and right, its useless and is just a waste.

Japanese games’ camera direction is inverted, too. They call western games’ normal the “inverted” setting. I think they sorta view the screen as a “window” to the game’s world and the camera is placed outside of the window.

perhaps now they will reconsider the approach to game design in their titles.
