Toriyama would like to remake FFVII

Of all the games in the Final Fantasy series, what game would Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama like to remake?
Guess! You’ll never, ever get it.
“That would be Final Fantasy VII!”
We said you wouldn’t get it.
“If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project,” said Toriyama, “if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project.
“If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake.”
Last August at gamescom, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase told us that, for now, you need to play the FFVII PS1 version on PSN.
Thanks, Siliconera.

*sings, to the tune of Lampchops Play-along*
This is the news that never ends.
Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Squenix wants to remake it not knowing what it wants.
And they’ll keep flogging this dead horse forever just because…
This is the news that never ends.
Yes it goes on and on my friends…

For a project they’re not doing they don’t half talk about it a lot.

This game did not age well at all. They would need to alter everything except maybe the main story points. Couldn’t even finish the psn version and get out midgar(cd1)

Why bother, when VI and IX are much better candidates?

“Why bother, when VI and IX are much better candidates?”
Because they didn’t sell a bazillion copies.

Isn’t there a danger that a remake will NOT be what people remember of the original, and inturn, just not like it?!

I has a plan!
(1) Make all future Final Fantasy games handheld.
(2) Thus force silly up-themselves designers to limit their exposition and SFX (technical necessity, innit), concentrate on gameplay fundamentals.
(3) ?????
(4) Profit!

i have an idea too. Remake Final Fantasy 7 with everything the same including stor and dialogue. Only remake the audio (bring in original cast to re-record in 5.1-7.1 surround) and the graphics. Then only charge $39.99 each copy and that shit will sell. I know i would buy it. Then release DLC to expand, you know, add more stories that lead off after the ending.
