“Serious effort” made to get Torchlight onto consoles

Action RPG Torchlight is coming to consoles, if comments by developer Runic Games are anything to go by.
“We’re going to put some serious effort into it — pretty quick — getting ‘Torchlight’ onto consoles,” Max Schaefer, CEO of of the company said.
“There’s a lot of really cool things about the console world, too, that would work well with our game.”
Torchlight has become a serious fan favourite since it released last year, patching a yawning gap left in the action RPG space by, well, the fact Diablo III’s about 12 years away.
From The Rumble Pack, via MTV and Kotaku. Thanks, Blerk.

Torchlight is an absolutely awesome PC game. If you have PC, go get it on Steam. You won’t regret it.
Heck, I’d buy it *again* for consoles, if it cane out!

@1 i think it is mediocre at best. It has very nice art style, some Diablo 2 atmosphere music, but balance and everything else is… Need a work.

I’d love it if this made it to XBLA. I really enjoyed the demo but my machine was creaking even before I got the the end of that little chunk of the game, there’s no chance it’d cope with the full thing.

It is an absolute gem of a game but is let down by lack of co-op play.

I would play Torchlight with Hunam. I would not play Torchlight with Blerk.

For a split second there, I was convinced this had something to do with those god awful New Moon abortions….

I feel kind of sorry for the console owners.
The PC version has co-op gaming on the horizon, mods which vastly improve and bugfix the game beyond its original design, and the Torchlight PC action MMORPG is on the horizon.
The console owners get Torchlight, recycled, with no online play and no mods. And really, Torchlight is all about the mods, since the mods provide 90% of the overall content (there’s a huge amount of content mods, all of which work together beautifully and are totally compatible with one another), including new classes, dungeons, and quests.
Really, it’s £15 on the PC, and much less if you shop around a bit (or wait for a Steam sale), and considering that it’ll run on a very low-end PC with few complaints, I’d honestly recommend trying it out there than waiting for the console release.
Without the mods, you’re really missing out.
Just my two pence, anyway.
