Break Media has announced that it has acquired FileFront, and will fold it into its group of branded sites and invest significantly in the editorial components of the site, with an aim to provide both Break and FileFront users with additional premium gaming content.
Currently boasting more than 9 million unique monthly visitors, more than 200,000 active forum users, and a network of more than 75 game-specific sites, FileFront will join 18-34 male demographic sites such as: Break, MadeMen, HolyTaco, ScreenJunkies, CagePotato, Chickpedia, and All Left Turns.
“Gaming is a significant area of interest to our community and our brand partners,” said Break’s CEO Keith Richman. “Adding an established property like FileFront will help us cater more effectively to that interest and add immediate scale to our existing gaming efforts.”

The incorporation of FileFront into the Break Media network builds on Break’s recent expansion into gaming, which kicked off last month with the formation of a game development studio in Shanghai and the launch of that studio’s first game, MMA FightPicker, on CagePotato.com.
FileFront was created by I/O Error Development and first launched in December 2001 and was later sold to Ziff Davis Media. The company was then sold back to the site’s original founder last year, a few months after Ziff sold 1UP to UGO in 2008.
