Metro 2033: “It’s not an open world game”

metro2033

In case you had any designs on THQ’s Metro 2033 being an open world FPS, a la S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you need to check that shit right now. It isn’t.

“It’s a story-driven, atmospheric, first-person shooter. It’s not an open world game,” EP Dean Sharpe told Inside Xbox.

“The goal was to make a very believable, atmospheric, story-driven game, and I think that we did that.”

You play as a guy who’s lived underground for most of his life, and gets sent on a world-saving mission. The whole thing’s set after the bomb.

There’s tons of footage through there. Looks wicked. It’s out for PC in the first quarter of next year.

Assumed it wouldn’t be open world, surely the fact that alot of the game is set in the Metro system which is very linear suggested this

facts i’ve picked up about the game:

the game has no HUD so if you want to check the map you have to do it in really time (much like farcay2)

you only get limited air supply when you leave the bunker

the games currency is bullets, so you really have to watch your ammo consumption if you want to be buying upgrades.

its a horror/fps and there is flying demon/mutate baddies about

hopefully this will be a real hardcore gaming experience, like demon souls but for FPS’s….it probably wont be but i can hope
