Rumor floating about the net has Logitech working on an external UMD drive for PSPgo.

According to a source close to CVG, it will allow users to whip out their UMDs and play them on the digital only handheld.

When asked, Logitech’s UK end said that it was not aware of anything of the sort, but that it might be something the US office is working on.

Those crazy yanks.

This seems just as pointless as the infected mode in Resistance Retribution. A third party trying to turn a $250 pspGo, a product sent to die at retail, into a $250 psp-3000 when there’s a $170 psp-3000 already available. Unless Logitech is run by the same glue sniffers that run Sony, this is most certainly not happening.

Gek he’s the same guy who I sent crying away two months ago and swore he never return to this site because of the PS3 fanboys….pay him no mind I heard he’s related to BDH

Seems strange for a system that’s selling well to give away 3 games. A giveaway of 3 games seems more like something to justify an excessive price tag. By the way, PC gaming is irrelevant.

If that’s true then the 360 must be dead in the US and UK given recent bundles and discounts. My mate just got a 360 with two controllers and three games (CoD:MW2, Forza 3 and FIFA 10) for £199.

Where on earth did you hear that Gekidami? The PSP Go has bombed everywhere.

(Even in Japan where it actually stood a chance)

PS, of course, it’s NOT true. Great deals don’t mean hardware is flopping.

But deals don’t mean that hardware isn’t flopping either.

I think the PSPGo is doing pretty much exactly what Sony expected it to do. There wasn’t a lot of mainstream advertising around it and it was priced too far apart from the 3000 model for undecided buyers to go for it over the 3000.

Obviously, if you were comparing it to another hardware revision launch, like say the DSi, then no it hasn’t sold particularly well. But then, Nintendo does advertise very effectively.

As for this rumoured UMD add-on, I don’t think the current user base of the PSPGo are particularly interested in having a clunky accessory attached to their sleek machines. Just seems pointless.

pspgo is a test and anyone with a brain should see that when both it and the psp3000 are both on the market. Seems some of you like to jump up and say HAHAHA I told you so, ZUNE rocks!…NOT!

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a test. Like I mentioned, Sony could have had as much success as Nintendo did with the DSi.

However Sony does seem to be keeping its focus on the 3000 with new colours and official bundles being made for that model alone. So it’s no surprise to see the sales for the PSPGo at the level they are.

“But deals don’t mean that hardware isn’t flopping either.”

Exactly. So your statement that PSP Go has a great game deal at the moment and linking that to your belief it has flopped is pointless because it could mean anything or nothing at all – and we don’t know which. Which was my point.

Actually looking it up i see that whilst over all PSP sales did go up (it was only beaten by the DSi last week it seems and lost its top spot the week before to the PS3) the PSPGo wasnt a large part of the sales, atleast not after its first week in Japan.

    Interesting idea.

Will it mount to the go?

If you could use it to rip UMDs it’d be awesome, if not it’s a bit meh.

It would be awesome if you could export UMD’s to the HDD with it, but i would really doubt it.
