Gearbox president Randy Pitchford has called out Valve, in a sense, for ignoring PS3 as a development platform.
It’s not very pretty, but here it is anyway.
“I noticed something on the net not too long ago. Doug Lombardi had to take a swipe at the PS3 again, and I thought it was foolish,” Pitchford told OPM. “I read it the same way I read fanboys. Like there’s a guy who bought the Sony platform and he’s a Sony guy, so he decides he’s going to spend a certain percentage of his time bashing Microsoft. And there’s a guy on Microsoft doing the same thing.
“Those guys are childish and narrow minded, it’s the same kind of thing.
“Valve think their own stuff is the only stuff that matters, to the point where they have their own distribution platform. It’s like, I don’t care about retail, about Marketplace, or PSN, I’m going to have Steam.
“It’s cool, it’s good, and they’re doing a good job but at the same time they’re reliant on the rest of the world. They had to do that [Left 4 Dead] deal with EA. When I see the L4D ad on the television I don’t see a Valve logo, I see an EA logo, and when I bought it, I bought it at a store”.

Blerk, you can’t be serious about that!
Edit: the crap thing I mean…

About the ‘Half Life 2 > Half Life 1′ thing? For sure. I found the first game fairly dull, but the second one was fantastic.

PC mouse and keyboard gaming is the worst combo in the history of combos. A KKK member would rather see a white chic get banged by a black dude than ever use a mouse and keyboard for gaming.
Trying to use a mouse and keyboard for gaming are like watching two retarded people fuck.

May I ask when did you play HL1? At launch or later?
Psychotext said:
Half Life 2 really is considerably better than Half Life 1. Just the lack of alien bouncy bouncy planet at the end seals that order.
JonFE said:
HL2 could not even begin to have the impact HL1 had in defining the FPS genre. Xen or not…
Blerk said:
@TEA: there’s nothing wrong with pad control for FPS games, but PC versions are tweaked specifically for K&M control. You’ll never manage with a pad if you’re playing the PC version.
@JonFE: It was much later, which might’ve had something to do with it. But I don’t play a lot of shooters so it’s not like ‘later’ games spoiled it for me. Perhaps I was just expecting too much.
Psychotext said:
Half Life 1 may have been more ground breaking… but that doesn’t make it the better game.

If you really like gaming you should like both platforms. I understand if you are a hardcore or serious gamer and don’t care for the Wii (like myself) but if you like more mature gaming then you should like both. I have both, but I play 99% of my games on the 360. If I were a MS fanboy, I would have missed out on inFamous which would have been a shame because that game kicked ass.
From a business standpoint (which is how Valve is looking at it I’m sure) I don’t know how much time and money it adds to development to do the Sony platform, but Sony is coming back strong. It’s as dumb to not work with Sony as it is to not work with Microsoft.

Sorry Psycho, I really don’t see where HL2 excels HL1. It was a worthy sequel -no doubt about that- and I enjoyed playing through it and both the episodes, but apart from graphics it does not do anything better than its predecessor, IMHO of course.

It does the Gravity Gun better.
And AI.
And Physics.

I found the storytelling and the set-pieces much better in HL2, and there’s a much bigger variety of environments too. A much more ’rounded’ experience, IMHO of course.

Never played HL1.
HL2 was one of my favourite campaigns ever, though.

I think HL2 is better than HL1, and I bought HL1 on day one.

@ Blerk
Half Life 2 does surpass Half Life. I was refering to the Half Life series as a whole. I still play Half Life 2 on my laptop from time to time.
G1GAHURTZ said:
I’m going through Episode 1 on 360 atm.
About 2 hours in, and I’m still waiting for the good part.
JonFE said:
Apparently, I’m in the minority on this one – no worries though

that’s so much bullshit. the PSN community is like my home away from home. I have no problem getting 3 other guys to join me in a match of COD4,Warhawk,tekken,borderlands, or any other mltiplayer game for PS3.
We know the PS3 has a couple of less features than live but we work around it with no issues. we have in game text party chat! take that Valve

But you’re like, king of PSN. You’re bound to feel at home amongst your subjects.

I’m far from being the PSN king but anyone who makes it own my friends list I treat them like family. You of all people should know our relationship are like night and day from VG247 and PSN.

You go on nightly activities with Psycho over PSN?
Hmm, intriguing…

Another ridiculous claim from Valve, only this time they’re going straight after its players rather then the system.
How anyone can say that Valve dont make stuff on PS3 because its to hard and not out of sheer fanboy preference is beyond me.
The Hindle said:
That quote from the Valve guy is pathetic, Valve really do need to grow up fucking morons.

We’ve been known to exchange words on PSN time from time. He still won’t accept my video chats but we’ve come a long way the both of us. We went from wishing death and calling each other gay to having common interest in 1080p wallpapers. I really wish VC was multiplayer though so we could play together. I’m sure it would be a lot of fun playing with him even without the trophies
Psychotext said:
I’m pretty certain I never called you gay TEA. That was your own little pastime.
Remember the early days? We were all Euro Fag Homo Cock Suckers (paraphrasing)
theevilaires said:
no no I called you gay and morris gay numerous times because well…you know the story, but I remember you saying something after the holiday break earlier this year like, oh you’re back the internet wish you had died. its was something like that.
no hard feelings though.
Psychotext said:
Now that I said. It really was a pleasant few weeks without you freaking out at everyone though.
JonFE said:
Ooh, get a room, will ya?

There was no new articles. Everyone kept crying on the same article for more post so I felt no need to say anything. Plus I was a fresh of breath air that came in the form of a tornado. Don’t tell Garratt this but I’m responsible for bringing in a lot of traffic to this site.
I’ve gotten shit loads of messages on PSN of die hard PlayStation loyalist praising me how they love my comments.
Even though most of them don’t comment they visit this site often just to read my opinion. no bull

Actually, that last part is a little sad. lol
…and I’m not sure a little sad really quite covers it.
