Pachter: Modern Warfare in week 1 will “exceed $500 million”

modernwarfare29

In his preview for the upcoming Q3 financial results for Activision Blizzard this Thursday, analyst Michael Pachter has said that he expects Modern Warfare 2 to make over $500 million at release.

He also expects the game will “easily sell 10 million units in Q4″.

“Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 should allow Activision to achieve guidance. We expect global sales to exceed $500 million in the first week following launch, and think that the company can easily sell 10 million units in Q4.”

The game is out next Tuesday for the PS3, 360 and PC.

Perhaps Pachter knows how many units Acti-Blizz have primed to ship this year.

I’m glad I cancelled my preorder. I’ll probably end up buying before Christmas but will try and hold off for a while. Maybe buy 2nd hand to muck up the sales figures ;-)

FFXIII was never delayed, really stupid video. 500 Million is not going to happen just because the first one made sells of 15 million doesn’t mean that more than the people in the US will get this game.

Neither was Christmas. You seem to have missed the joke slightly…

Well it started off true. Bioshock 2 was postponed because of the “cluster” of games in Fall/winter release ie MW 2.

First off, Michael Pachter is a tard, second, if they do make those numbers they’ll never release a patch for DS.

That’s no way to speak of onlive.

(also, you might want to check Microsoft’s recent financials… plenty of money being made. Oh, and chrome is a lightweight OS, with only browser gaming support. Might want to read that last link too… because it’s talking about browser marketshare, which is irrelevant.)

Project Offset it planned to come out on PS3 and 360 you berk. Not that it’ll release on anything, based off how long its been in dev and whats been shown it must be in development hell.

it’s like this if you don’t have market share your going to lose alot profit or long term profit!microsoft is a dumb company and it will lose alot more profit share.

BDH, sometimes you make TEA look like a rational and sensible human being.

“lol kind hard for microsoft to sell that new windows 7 these days. alot of articles asking alot of questions.”

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8151342.stm

“Amazon said that sales of Windows 7 in the first eight hours it was available outstripped those of Windows Vista’s entire 17 week pre-order period.”

http://akiba-pc.watch.impress.co.jp/hotline/20091024/etc_win75.html

If you can’t read that, it says that Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate editions sold out in Japan the day they launched.

So yeah, it’s really having a hard time selling, isn’t it? *rolls his eyes*

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

long term profit is more important. that is why one of the links I have posted talks about microsofts doomed fate.

good businessies try to keep their market chare not lose it. lol

Market share has absolutely NOTHING whatsoever to do with profits.

I don’t see many people walking around wearing Gucci, but I’m pretty sure that they are a profitable company.

I don’t see many people driving around in Ferrari’s, but I’m pretty sure that they are a profitable company.

I don’t see many people with Bang and Olufsen home cinema systems, but I’m pretty sure that they are a profitable company.

If I sold 1 product a year and had 0.0000000000000001 market share, but that product gave me a £37 million profit, I’m laughing.
