Rumor: Hugh Jackman front-runner for Drake in Uncharted film

hughjackman

According to Nolan North, who was a guest on the latest OPM UK podcast, the voice of Nathan Drake himself stated that Hugh Jackman is on top of the list of actors to play the swashbuckling hero in the Uncharted film.

Stating that he himself would like to be cast as Drake, North admits that just having a part in the film would be enough.

“I would love to do the movie, obviously I’d love to do it as Nathan Drake, but I’ve done film and television and I understand the reality of the business,” he said.

“Jackman is who I’d like to see. I think the producers would like to see Jackman too, because he has that tough guy exterior, but there’s also a lot going on behind his eyes. A lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior, and he has great comic timing. He’s a phenomenal actor.

“I just hope I get a part on the movie so I can work with Hugh.”

Loads of Uncharted fans have stated since the beginning that if a film were made of the game, they’d prefer Firefly and Serenity star Nathan Fillion, if only because he looks the part.

Guess we’ll find out once a decision is made.

Thanks, PushSquare.

Hum, not sure. I’ve yet to see him in a role thats anything like Nate.
Better then Matthew McConaughey though.

“they’d prefer Nathan Fillion, if only because he looks the part”

…he is the part. (He’s the voice of Drake)

He did great in Van Helsing. A bit of a cheese movie, but it was really fun – until the end where Beckinsale, Kemp and whoever played the father were smiling down from heaven. That ruined it, honestly. I almost vomited. Almost.

Nolan North is the voice of Drake.
Nathan Fillion does look the part though.

No, psycho, Nolan North is the voice of Drake.

I’d imagine that getting Jackman would at least guarantee a decent budget for the movie, if not a half decent film.

Thing is though Van Helsing and Wolverines personalities are nothing like Drakes. I’m not to sure how well Jackman could do optimistic wittyness and humour whilst putting on an American accent.

Btw Detale, having Jackman in no way means the movie will be decent, look at what he’s actually played in and you’ll see most of it is utter tripe.

I am just wondering if he is young enough. Drake doesn’t seem to be over the line of 40. Not that Jackman is old or anything, just an observation. Then again, Drake seems past the 30 mark too. Whatever. I’ll shut up now. :-D

Fillion for the role tbf. He looks for the part a lot more then Jackman.

That said, just do what people are asking for with the MGS movie. Whoever they hire to act as Snake, get Hayter to do a voiceover.

They should get Fillion to do the role, with North doing the voiceover.

Nate looks like he’s in his late 20′s to me. Dont think he’s over 30 though. I mean he can move n’stuff innit. :D

Indeed, i dont think Nate would be Nate without Nolan North.

in an ideal world fillion, jackman and north would all be in a drake movie, they’d all be good

If Fillion was playing Drake and North was voicing him what would Jackman be needed for?

I would love to see Hugh Jackman as Nathan Drake. Alot better than Matthew McConaughey (Don’t take it personally Matt).

Hey all! We asked him about Fillion too – totally out favourite choice for the role – and he said, rightly, that he doesn’t offer the same box office guarantee as someone like Jackman. Also said he’s been up against Fillion for loads of roles :) Do download the podast! Please!

I say go for it. Give him an awesome Zangief beard and send him to Russia. On second thought, I’d rather play as bearded Drake in Russia.

Fillion doesn’t look enough like Drake for me, though. Not enough to rule out Jackman. He just doesn’t seem like a neck-snapping, ravine-jumping, day-saving enough guy to really fill the role. Anyway, enough about Drake, who would play Sully and Elena?

Id say Emily Rose should do Elena, id say shes gonna be big in a few years her as an actress

Emily Rose IS Elena. She’s also perfectly presentable

Keep searching…..Hugh Jackman is NOT the perfect Nathan Drake…

Hey I have an idea…lets NOT make an Uncharted movie for multiple reasons, but the one major reason is that I don’t want Ryan doing a TANG episode.

Best solution: Make it a GC movie cannon to the story a la Resident Evil Degeneration, FF Advent Child. Have the games voice actors voice it and the games writers write it.

Lets face it, these stand-alone adaptations all suck. Only the cannon stuff is good.

Damn, the name didn’t ring any bells, but she does look like Elena. She did well in Lost.

I saw a picture of North a few minutes ago, and he looks more like Drake than either of them. All he would need is to grow his hair a little and trim those damn, horrid eyebrows. Now, quick, find me a Sully!

Unfortunately the guy who voices Sully (Richard McGonagle) Looks nothing like Sully.

Nick Nolte would have been a good Sully before he got all gnarled looking. He’s cantankerous and lively enough.

Nick Nolte… I Dont see it.

Has nothing to do with his face. Just his attitude. BTW – that mug shot is what I meant by gnarled looking.

No!!!!!! It’s Nolan or nothing for me. He is the voice. He is the man. Nobody else.

To be fair, you can have Claudia Black as Chloe in the movie. She’s been in Stargate, innit.

Galactic_Barret

Nick could work. A haircut would be great and I hear they do wonders with makeup in Hollywood. Voice even sounds similar enough. I still remember 48 hours. Claudia already looks like Chloe, so there isn’t any problem there (Kinda wonder about the ass thing, though.).

For the record, I always pictured Drake as late 20s, early 30s.

Hugh Jackman is top of a WISH list. It’ll more likely end up being a Zac Effron or Justin Timberlake shit feast , directed by some eurotrash MTV vid director…
With Samual Jackson as Sully… :-(

Do not invoke the name of Zac Effron or we shall smite thee! ;-)

I’m a fan of Ryan Reynolds and i could see him playing Nate, if only for his cocky comebacks. The only problem i have is that he doesn’t really come across as the ‘treasure hunting’ type.
Jackman wouldn’t be the worst choice in the world.
I remember the same debate over the Hitman movie. Everyone wanted the original voice actor to play the part but it really is down to which actor can bring in the audience (although i have no idea why they chose Timothy Olyphant, probably nobody else was interested…)
