Only the PC version of Dragon Age will have a top down perspective

dragonage16

Only the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins will have the top down perspective while playing the game, according to Kotaku.

The consoles will have the behind the back view, and considering the game has time and time again been called the “spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate”, the PC perspective should come as no surprise.

Game’s out next month.

Really?

This was news worthy? Yes the PC will have the NWN Isometric view the console will not.

Ah, i was wondering how the game would work on console, the Diablo type view is only really good for PC.

THink Kotor Gek. You will be able to hotkey abilities to the XYB and the press bumper button to have an additional 3 abilities to XYB.

They also have an advanced gambit system so you won’t have to micromanage you team mates as much. You can switch through characters aswell.

I dunno Phoenixblight, to some it may be news, like beauty news is in the eye of the beholder. *wink*

It’s a bit slow this afternoon, and to be honest, that bit of info does make a slight difference – to me at least. I like the Diablo style view, personally. Like the old Fallout games.

Then again, I saw it demoed on the PC at GDC not on consoles, and to be frank, I am still unsure how well the controls will work on a non-PC version – but that is just my opinion.

Steph. Just ignore the camera part. This was in July the same controls just not the camera.

I guess they’ll be just fine then. Looked rather smooth. I still got mine for PC. I am sure I’ll still have to share it though.

See mroe proof that a console can’t handle a real rpg! bulders gate one of the must iconic rpg’s of all time. If it wasn’t for bio-ware and bulders gate rpg’s would have been dead.

TBrpg don’t work well on consoles.

BDH i’m a big advocate of the PC too but consoles are perfectly capable of handling RPGs of this calibre.

I intend on playing this on my watercooled i7, crossfire powered machine but chances are it’ll play very well on my xbox too. The difference is i like my games to look their best and i’m willing to pay the PC premium for that. Some people understandably, are not.

yea console tbrpg’s does not come close to pc tbgames and never will. If that was the case dragon age for consoles would have beeen the same game as pc’s. however they are not for meny reasons. Console rpg’s are not on par with pc rpgies.

Sorry but Dragon age is not Turn based it is actually Real time and as Syrok says there is quite bit of Turn based RPGs on the Console. One of them is infact huge and goes off the acronym FF.

BDH you really need to do your research you are now going into a dark cave without any light to help you.

You are wrong DA:O is in fact the same engine and game the only difference is the UI to work with the controls one is with keyboard and mice in mind and another is a console controller.

Really no PC Turn based comes close to FF. Look at the numbers. Especially FFX and FFVII

ahahahaha diablo on consoles would suck. it’s just like an rts game would suck on consoles. the fact remains they will never ever be the same rpg’s games on consoles.

the links i posted above proves that point.

“alot of hardcore pc gamers and rpgers say that console rpg’s don’t hold up to pc rpg’s.”

I’ve played almost every single RPG that has ever been released since the early days of Ultima, since practically the day I could spell. I’ve been western RPGs and eastern RPGs in equal measure, and I can safely attest that that is… absolute bollocks.

Give a “hardcore PC gamer” Shin Megami Tensei 3, and then we’ll see just how “hardcore” they are.

A biased PC gamer has absolutely no place to talk about the quality of the rest of the market. :) Not everyone is as egotistical and biased as you, BDH.

@ O’Connor

QFT. Shin Megami Tensei 3 will kick them in the nuts and then tea bag them while they are on the floor crying.

@BDH

Really? Your posts prove only one thing people that like to play different ways. I personally would like the KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect vs Tactical.

Posting how people feel about console controls only starts flame wars obviously. X is better than Y, Y is better than Z. Its all pointless. People can choose if they want to go the Modernized BG2 controls or play on the console.

please it’s like saying crysis will be the same game on consoles.

here is an exmaple

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRWRskYLdno

sorry they will not be the same games, it’s a proven fact.

Go over to the Cry engine. Reviews after reviews for DA:O have stated its the same game the only difference is the controls and the tactical camera with the PC. Not only that the repeated comments from DEVs stating what I just said.

DA:O is not a graphic demanding game either so there will a very miniscule difference between the PC vs console after all this game has been in the making for the last 5 years so the engine is naturally dated.

“QFT. Shin Megami Tensei 3 will kick them in the nuts and then tea bag them while they are on the floor crying.”

And *then* it’ll go after their family.

“please it’s like saying crysis will be the same game on consoles.”

Newsflash: It doesn’t have to be. There’s more than one way of doing things. Just because it’s different doesn’t make it bad.

proof is in the pudding I am sure there will be a huge debate over this all over the internet amoung the hradcore rpg gamers over this topic.
