back when I worked at EA, we had some down-time between projects so I played Dragon Age. A LOT of Dragon Age; I don’t even usually like these kind of games, but for some reason, this one hooked me.

I dont see the Mass Effect in this, the combat is barely real-time. Unless the console version plays differently.

combat is entirely real time, but you can stop it at any time with the space bar.

If it was 1999 this game would look really impressive. But it isn’t. And it doesn’t.

Still you never know, maybe it all comes together well. I think I’ll refrain from pre-ordering, though; word of mouth is the only thing that can sell this game to me now.

well, bioware always sucked at making good cg movies and even though the intro trailer for the star wars the old republic was good, this one is not, that good. still, i like it. and i can’t wait to play the game. their strength was always story, audio and gameplay.

btw was that Loghain, a grey warden now? did i get that right?

THis is not Bioware CG. This is a third party called Blurr they also made the Warden’s Calling CG trailers. Its just for PRomo won’t actually be in the game for obvious reasons.

@8 No the game play is not real time. Devs have stated multiple times that it is not its based on a Cooldown system.

@12 wtf, are you seriously going to argue with someone who played the game extensively?
how does a “cooldown” system not make it real time. In WoW, the spells also have to cool down, yet it is real time, is it not?

I never said the combat wasnt real-time but that is was “barely real-time”. Mainly for the reason that you dont have full control over the battles you start or how you want to fight them unlike in Mass Effect.

you can control every character individually, you can give all of them individual commands… I don’t get what you mean.

It’s amazing how good CG has gotten, AND when the woman was firing arrows at the dragon, all I could think of was Shadow of the Colossus.

Can’t wait to mess around with the character creator tomorrow, assuming its still coming out tomorrow, should be fun to see how customizable your character can be in this game.

I don’t think I could part with cash for this without playing a demo. The mechanics looked a bit dull in another video I watched earlier. Kind of like FFXII in a way, you control one guy directly (if you want) while the other the guys all fight automatically until you intervene when they’re being fuckwits.

The mouse interface made it look a bit smoother, but no less dull – and I found FFXII so dull I haven’t bothered completing it as of yet.

Quite right mate. FMV always make the charecters look good, then when your in charge, they hobble about like your nan and have a handfull of stances… Walk, run, cast spell, swing huge phallic weapon etc.
Demo please Bioware/EA?
