PS3 Slim sells 40,000 units its first week in the UK

Sony’s PS3 Slim has sold 40,000 units during its first week of release in the UK, according to a report from MCV.
The figures were complied by the site as it went by hint from Sony that sales were 20 percent less on the Slim than on PS2 Slim launch.
PS2 Slim sold 50,000 units during its first week, ergo 20 percent less would be 40,000.
Sony has refused comment on the figure, but UK sales director Mark Howsen said on Monday that the company is “extremely pleased” with the console’s start in the UK.

A good start, for sure. The real shame is that we won’t get even vague info about the following weeks so we’ll have no idea if it’s maintaining that level of interest.

I am sure SOny will come out saying something if it is doing as expected or better.

Is PS2 still selling that good? Wow… I didn’t think it would still have 50.000 each week. Or that… or something special happened this week and I didn’t know it. Did PS2 have a cut price too?

That’s the PS2 slim launch number Komond. Consoles generally do 5-15k a week in the UK.
