299 euros is about £250 at the minute.

Looks like it will be a 249 tag in Sterling to me, though in real terms it *should* be about 225.

Actually it is £249 in real terms, sorry Blerk.

Reask, you’ve already seen it. The “fan made” picture was no such thing; it really is that ugly all-black thing with the new crappy looking “PS3″ logo.

Horrible. I hope my 60GB never dies because I don’t want that thing sitting right under my £1,500 Bravia.

Charcoal.

I think it looks OK.
How will MS respond I wonder.

That is pretty epically nasty, as far as designs go. But it’s a cost cutter, not a architectural piece of design, like my black monolith.

It’s dull (literally), the logo looks like a cheap Chinese knock-off and the buttons look like an afterthought.

It looks cheap, but stylistically I think it’s fine. I wish it was flat, though.

I agree Blerk… I want to put stuff on top of it, so it’s less noticeable xD

Yes, flat would have been good. Perhaps like the first black version of Sony’s LocationFree base station (now that was beautiful Sony design).

^^ THAT is what the PS3 slim should be. Albeit a bit, er, slimmer.

Oh that is very not pretty. Hmm. Can the little ‘un sit vertically without support?

No, it comes with a stand.

I actually like the non-glossy finish.

I hate wiping greasy fingerprints from my 60gb.

Also, the price cut seems to come at a great time now that my PS3 is acting weird… thinking it might die soon.

Greasy fingerprints? Maybe you should just wash you’re hands from time to time :p

There’s some Q&A over at Arstechnica on this.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/08/sony-answers-our-questions-about-the-new-playstation-3.ars

Also some bad news for those who held out some hope of BC coming back…

“It’s not coming back, so let me put that on the table,” Koller says with an air of finality. But it’s all people ever talk about!

“It’s not as big as a purchase intent driver as you may be hearing,” he claimed. “We’ve got such a substantial lineup of titles on the PS3; most people are buying the PS3 for PS3 games. They’ve buying it for PS3 games and Blu-ray movies.”

“That won’t be returning,” he repeats.
