The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall now a free download

Thursday, 9th July 2009 21:31 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, Besthesda has released The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall as a free download.

The game requires DOS to play, but modern systems can download an emulator, such as DOSBox.

That’s the one Besthesda recommends, anyway.

Good news for fans of the series and old-schoolers alike.

Thanks, Evil Avatar.

I would’ve preferred an announcement of The Elder Scrolls V. I am dying for information.

    15 years and 4 games.

Quality not quantity, yearly instalment spammers take note, EA I’m looking at you, ya shower of fannies.

Oh, I don’t know… I thought Oblivion felt rushed and totally shit compared to Morrowind. I admit that Fallout 3 did a lot to make up for that, though.

But I just hope that the next game won’t surround a stilted culture, set in a drab, cookie-cutter fantasy realm, with all the good bits taken away.

Give us back the ability to jump miles into the air, beth!

Oh, and thanks for free Daggerfall, that’s good of ‘em. I’ll be sharing that around with all those unfortunate enough nto to have enjoyed it, but I’d have been much more ecstatic if it were free Morrowind! Buuut that’s asking for too much, I know.

I thought they’d decided not to make anymore ES games. Would be a shame.
