Gaikai running WoW, Mario Kart, Spore, more in Firefox – first video

Here we go! Dave Perry’s released a long video of his Cloud gaming app Gaikai in action, showing World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Mario Kart 64, Spore and others playing in a normal Firefox browser with apparently no plug-ins or downloads necessary.

Watch it after the break, and stay with it right to the end. Perry opens up Photoshop saying he didn’t have to spend “$700″.

The developer’s going to be speaking about Gaikai at Develop in Brighton next month. We’ll be there!

Wow. Where are you from? The future? :D

Hey there, VG247! You could make a post about Perry’s comments regarding Gaikai possibly being accessible on the PS3 browser! Could be big. And you’d be there first! Edit: No-one about it seems. I’ve sent an email.

Sony can just block things like this just like they did with Hulu….

Sony had Hulu blocked? Source? I thought that was Hulu themselves. But yeah I suppose they could. But if these games aren’t in HD maybe they would see this as a selling point for the PS3 rather than competition for PS3 games? Or maybe take a cut from users accessing the service via the PS3? Nah, it’s not gonna happen is it :D To be honest, I am still somewhat skeptical of the whole thing anyway. The costs involved and the number of servers required to do all that rendering haven’t really been addressed… Someone’s asked on his site about servers and what would happen when too many users try to connect at once to a particular game. That’d be a major disadvantage, having to wait to play a particular title.. Will be interesting to see how he replies.

    Looks good.

So Sony block Hulu in the states? Odd, it’s fine to use iplayer on the PS3 over here.

  6. I believe it is hulu who are blocking the PS3, someone gave their PC browser a PS3 signature and Hulu blocked them.

I think I read that on Kotaku.

As for this technology, not interested really.

The only conceivable use I can see for it is the fast delivery of demos to try before I buy the retail unit to play in full HD on my machine.
