Analyst predicts StarCraft II will not arrive until 2010

Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey believes that StarCraft II will not be released until 2010 due to lead designer Dustin Browder’s comments regarding “four to six months” worth of Beta testing.

With Blizzard stating that the game is set to be released during fall/holiday 2009, Hickey feels that this will be pushing it.

“We find it increasingly probably that the game will be released in [Activision's] fiscal ’10 period,” he told Gamasutra.

He also sees WoW’s way forward to be a bit rough due to the “looming competition in the West from new MMORPGs”.

Didn’t DoW2 launch a week or two after it’s beta ended?

Rest assured, this is gonna come out before the end of 2009, they’d be mad to miss out on holiday sales. Blizzard has no problems at all with closing up a public/closed beta to reach such a deadline, it happened with Diablo II and WoW before. They aren’t even afraid to scrap features (cfr. the guild stuff from Diablo II) then.
