Brutal Legend to “capture the essence” of Ozzy Osbourne

ozziebrutal

How do you put Ozzy Osbourne into Brutal Legend? Do you motion capture? No, sir, you do not.

“We didn’t mo-cap,” Doublefine boss Tim Schafer told VG247 at E3. “We tried to capture the essence with this really great animation.

“[With] motion capture you get literally what people move like but we went for animation that represents the feel of Ozzy Osbourne; the motions are bigger than life in a way.

“The game has a really exaggerated art style, and [we did] motion in the same way.”

Schafer told us Osbourne was “great fun to work with” and went so far to call him a “hoot”. He’s not a gamer though, apparently, said Tim.

Brutal Legend, Ozzy and all, hits this autumn for PS3 and 360.

They probably couldn’t get him to stand up long enough to do motion capture. :-D

Not a gamer? That would explain why he knows bugger all about WoW then…

I wonder if his essence is somewhat contagious

Mr. Schafer….what when on in your head?
Oh, Mr. Schafer, did you talk to the dead?

They’d be better looking at old Sabbath gigs from the 70′s and Ozzy gigs from the 80′s when he was still fairly spry than motion capturing him now that he’s old, decrepit and drug-ruined.

@Blerk:
Judging by that dreadful Osbourne’s show, that’s sad but true :(
