Reggie announces Metroid Wii by Team Ninja

Nintendo has announced during its E3 event that a new game is headed to Wii.
It’s from Team Ninja, and it’s Metroid and its’ due in 2010.
Called Metroid: Other M.
The crowd went nuts and so did we. It looked fantastic, and the game’s given Samus a voice.
Media soon, hopefully.

2.5D too? Now that’s a bit more like it!
Is it a full game or a Wiiware title?

This was the sole ray of light in what was a bleak conference.

There’s always room for more Metroid. Given that the last few ‘full’ Metroids were handled by a US third party devco under strict guidance of Nintendo and that they turned out pretty spectacular..
..it’ll be interesting to see how this turns out and if any of Team Ninja’s character will be evident in the final product. Being a Metroid purist, I’d hope not.
That said, it’s Team Ninja. Samus’s boobs are going to end up bigger than her head.

Sounds fine to me… as long as they actually bother to release it outside Japan

Oh. I just saw the first pictures of this on Kotaku and… er… it’s not quite what I was expecting. Samus is far too big, that’ll never work.

The game switches from 3rd to 1st person?

Seems that way. I was imagining something like the GBA Metroids. This… isn’t it.

I’ll probaly pick this up but i dont like the direction the series is taking, Team Ninja can make some interesting gameplay but most of the time its linear and short.

I personally dont know what to think. Looks fantastic and all but gameplay? Ninja Gaiden meets Metroid? Samus performing blazing fast moves? Uhh….interesting mixture nonethless
