Peter Molyneux is making game for Project Natal

Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux is on stage demo’ing a brand new Lionhead IP for Microsoft’s full-body motion sensor, Project Natal.
He created a boy called Milo who recognizes faces, emotions, words: even displays emotions.
Molyneux then drew a picture on a piece of paper and Milo pick it up in the game.
From our liveblog: “The game scanned a copy of the paper, and Milo recognized it. Holy shit.”
However, there’s no date and the camera’s “still very much in development. Only being shown behind closed doors.”
Sounds awesome.

I might be being gay, but that’s the most incredible thing I’ve seen from a videogames console.

As a complete Sony Whore I have to say, I’ve just had to sit down, blown away by Milo…
Already sent Peter an email, stunning!

I am very very sceptical about that demo I’m afraid. The interectivity was great but are we supposed to believe they’ve created some kind of semi-fully realised AI character that understands what you are saying and responds in real-time. Just not possible atm I’m afraid

I think in that video there was a lot of fake. No AI can have a conversation with you like that. It all has to be programmed in. If you say something unexpected the AI doesnt know what to do. So yeah that video shows more a vision then reality.

Total fakery I reckon. They’ve shown no sign of developing anything close to that in their games but they’ve promised it many times.
God knows why he thinks having a little boy as a pet is a good idea.

He said they’d be showing to selected people (I assume journos) behind closed doors at E3.
It did look quite impressive would love to see more.

I sensed some foul play in that video to, the mirrored actions in the water werent quite what she was doing. Though it’ll be intersting to see what people have to say when they try it behind those closed doors… If they can say anything.

Well as we know from Nintendo. Motion control isnt the future. Its just gets annoying after some time. I dont want to move around all the time.

Indeed the day motion control becomes the only way you can play games instead of an optional feature will be the day i stop playing games.

I doubt that will ever happen.

I think Natal will end up being used for navigating in the menu of the 360 and for party games or live games. Because the major title will be multiplatform and i doubt that the dev will support the motion control just for the 360.

Am I the only one who thought MS were making a sick joke when they unveiled it as Project Natal?
Natal is a coastal town in Brazil, the french plane that disappeared, disappeared near Natal.
All over the news, someone must have also noticed?

In all the Natal stuff shown there was a frame or few of lag for the body inputs. With all the different things it’s looking for at once, that’s not too bad.
The most amazing about it all was that Molyneux hadn’t already blurted out what they were working on before now.

Found this funny:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Me: Hi Milo.
Milo: Good morning! How are you?
Me: I’m fine, and you?
Milo: *pause* I’m sorry, I didn’t understand you. Repeat that?
Me: I said I’m fine, and you?
Milo: *pause* Sure, I’d love to draw pictures!
Me: That’s not what I said…I’d actually prefer to go fishing.
Me: Yeah, I’ve got blue and yellow, but I don’t know how to draw a cat.
Me: …Milo, what the fuck are you talking about?
Milo: *pause* I’m sorry, I didn’t understand you. Repeat that?
Me: Console off.
Milo: *pause* I’m sorry, I didn’t understand you. Repeat that?
Me: Eat a steaming pile of donkey dung, you inbred hick!
Milo: *pause* I’m sorry, I didn’t understand you. Repeat that?
Me: GOD DAMNIT, I WANT MY FUCKING MONEY BACK.
Milo: Sorry, no refunds.
Me: !!!

Jesus Christ, that Molyneaux/Milo video was the biggest load of stiffly acted, badly scripted bullshit I’ve ever seen. You really think you’re getting this exactly as shown in the E3 demo? Yes you’ll have the Aquatopia thing…….

I don’t care, I love the idea and rather believe it’s true and can work than be sceptical about it and feel cheated.

I’m a fan of Molyneaux’s games, but I’m going to remain skeptical on “milo” as that way I won’t be disapointed if it sucks, and be very happy if it surpasses my expectations.
If anyone can do it, it’s Molyneaux.
What I would rather have than “Milo” is the new girl thats playing Dr Who’s new sidekick. That would be a much more interesting game.
