1UP – PSP-4000 is called PSP Go!

psp4000

Yet more rumour on the upcoming PSP revisions: according to 1UP, it’s called PSP Go!, and will come with 8 or 16GB of flash memory.

The site claims it does have a sliding screen.

Apparently it’s to launch in in Japan this September with a US debut coming in either late October or early November.

More than 100 games are to support the UMD-less release, including the PSP version of Gran Turismo.

True? We’ve been watching the mountains for months. It’s going to be announced at E3.

I don’t know why they’re even bothering to wait for E3. It seems like every man and his dog has seen one and knows it’s all true already.

That was all believable up until the bit about Gran Turismo ;) .

Hopefully it remains region free as I doubt it will make it to Europe until 2010 and I’m in Hong Kong over Christmas.

They can’t seem to decide whether or not it has an additional analogue hub (currently: computer says ‘no’).

Judging by SonyEricsons recent nosedive I’d say never.

I’ve heard nothing about a PSP phone, tbh. The slide-screen/E3 thing is solid, though.

im curious does anyone know if they will make older psp games available for download, like the god of war game and metal gear solid game, or will we just have to hold on to our older psp as well as get these new ones to keep playing any upcoming games?

What would be great is some sort of transfer mechanism to get your UMDs onto the machine and then send off the UMD to Sony to get the install validated and usable. Obviously it would be more beneficial to them if we had to buy them all again though :/.

When it says “more than 100 games available” I presume that means older games because I sure as shit doubt they’ve got 100 new games already unless they’re shovelling old arcade classics into their download store and counting those towards the total.

Didnt they mention something about a device that helps you transfer the UMD to the new PSP ?

If anything, just hold on to your old PSP, sooner or later you wont even want to play the UMD games.

Ericsson got in a huff late last year cause they wanted to use the playstation brand on their phones and Sony said no.

In an ideal world Sony said no cause they’re adding phone functionality to the new PSP.

But far, far more important to me than phone functionality would be decent controllers, specifically two decent analogue nubs that aren’t designed for midgets! Two Sony! and well positioned for the average thumbs!!!!
