What I’d love to see is some sort of agreement/pact, so that all platforms (PC included) get all games, and an effort to put the same kind of quality into all the releases. Break down the barriers, and all that.

I’d love to see that kind of equity, but that’s an ideal… I doubt it could ever happen, but if only, eh?

Esha, I think its awful for the industry that microsoft has giving the DLC egg to multiplatform games, it just highlights the greed of the developers in my eyes.

He’s right, though. People don’t look at those charts. Well… real people don’t. Only people like us actually see the damn things – everyone else just looks at the price tag on the front of the box and buys whatever the guy in GAME tells them they should buy.

Really though… if you’re the kind of person who will pull the $199 console off the shelf just because it’s cheaper, are you really likely to be hurt by the sinister lack of WiFi? Or even the hard drive?

It’s an indictment of Sony that they don’t have an entry (or parental) model for their console, not of Microsoft. Hell, I still don’t have WiFi for my 360, I plug directly into the router. I know it’s sacrilege for (like Blerk said) people like us to imagine buying a 360 without a hard drive, but isn’t it kind of stupid for Sony not to have a cheaper model for people who don’t need the extra stuff, or even know what it is?

hey hitnrun how bout i sell you a car without ac and seat belts and tell me how you feel then.with wifi i can move my ps3 upstairs, down stairs, on my patio balcony on a nice summer day, by my pool while im just floating around, where ever.as for hard drives theres too much content on psn and live to download to justify every system should have one.
If a kid gets a 360 for xmas and also gets the game gta4 and if he likes it a lot and wants the dlc to it,guess what its over a hundred dollars just to get that.I would be pissed to find out i had to buy an expensive hard drive just for that,but in the case of gta4 ms covered there cheap ass and will also have it at retail,but that doesn’t apply to every game.

and not to bust your balls but do you even own a ps3?, do you have a big house?,because if you do trust me wifi will come in handy when you don’t expect it.

I Know about 10 xbox 360 owners and 3 PS3 owners, none of the 360 owners have bought the wifi nor care about it, and even the PS3 owners dont use it.
I have wifi in my house, and I dont use it (for the 360) either, I prefer a cabled connection.
Wireless is great for my Ipod touch, laptop, etc, but I prefer the fastest most reliable connection for my games, and thats cabled for now.

This is my point exactly. What do you buy a video game system for? To play video games. The Arcade plays video games. Sure, maybe that’s not good enough for you or me or the bratty little kid, but you know what? Fuck them. Er, us. All three of us, plus Sony. It’s not our $200 extra dollars to spend.

And I directly plug in, because WiFi is too dicey for a gaming connection IMO. Nobody’s saying you shouldn’t be allowed to have WiFi, just that not everyone should have to pay for it.

i have the 20 gig and 60 gig ps3. i use the wifi with games on the 60gig and i can tell you i have never had a cut off during long game sessions of cod4,codw@w,lbp,motorstorm,or bfbc, all games that depend on strong connections.But hey i didn’t buy my ps3′s for wifi,its a great bonus that i think should come standard no matter what.hell even the psp and wii have wifi,how come microsoft just couldn’t throw it in thats all i’m saying

Microsoft didnt throw it in because it would have added cost and for the majority of gamers, they wont use it.
I’m glad they didnt include it, though I thinks its stupid how expensive the MS wireless adaptor is.

You don’t think that the possibility to price gouge on the wireless adaptor was at all part of the decision then? Incidentally you can always buy a cheap wireless bridge rather than the MS adaptor (about £15)

People don’t, by-and-large, go out of their way to buy something and its accessories at its most expensive. Most will go into a store, get offered extras for a 360 with an HDD, and walk out with that.

I do think the 360 should have wifi for more casual gamers, but it doesn’t bother me in the slightest that it’s not there. When my laptop is hooked up to an external monitor (like now) I hook it up to ethernet, and my PS3 downstairs is plugged into the router.

I work in games retail and you’d be surprised at how many people want the extras the 360 doesn’t come with, especially if it’s for a bedroom and far from the home’s router. And retailing at £60, a wireless connection isn’t cheap.

We could (and probably will) argue about this til we’re blue in the face, but the only winners are the companies peddling this stuff and coining it in. Nintendo are far worse at creating plastic tat you think you need…
