Konami’s labelled this morning’s green Metal Gear teaser as “speculation” and has refused to comment on the matter.
“I am afraid that Konami does not comment on speculation,” said a spokesperson to videogaming247.com earlier today. “Sorry, but that is the standard line.”
The teaser showed a green message, which has obviously fuelled speculation of an Xbox 360 SKU.
More soon. Maybe.

Trees are also green, as is grass. Perhaps it’s Metal Gear for gardens?

Metal Gear : Shed.

Amatuers. It’s clearly Metal Gear Solid: Greenhouse of the tomato growers.

I resent that everyone thinks it means Xbox 360 just because it’s green, that’s stupid. The 360 did not create the colour green.
Gekidami said:
And anyway, the lights on a 360 arnt green, they’re red most of the time *zinger*
XDamage said:
I wonder if hype like this is intentional, or if it happens by accident when the news reaches the west.
morriss said:
Gamoc: No, but advertisers and PR aren’t (that) stupid. Either it’s a deliberate ploy to get everyone to think it’s 360 or it’s 360. Whoever designed the logo knew exactly what they were doing in terms of the message it sends out and how people will interpret it.

O SKU, SKU, wherefore art thou SKU?

So they should avoid using the colour green because everyone will start speculating about it being 360? That’s plain stupid. They’re Japanese, too, maybe they didn’t expect this kind of speculation.
I’m not saying it’s not going to be on 360, just that I don’t like the 360-invented-green thing. Grass is green, maybe it’s Grass Gear Solid. So are leaves, so lets leave it alone
I don’t think it’ll be anything 360 exclusive, though. A multiplatform sequel (they are making MGS5, after all) or MGS4 going to 360, maybe. Or maybe it’s just a teaser that isn’t 360 related.
morriss said:
There are many different shades of green, mate.
Psychotext said:
You resent it Gamoc? Please tell me you aren’t that emotionally invested…
pleasant_cabbage said:
Wasn’t it Konami that did the teaser though?
So they don’t comment on their own ’speculation’?
Fair enough

I’ve seen the colour green in some PlayStation games. LOL! Sony are clearly pimping Microsoft product in their games! What fools!!

It’s weird a teaser image on a Konami website is labelled as “speculation” by Konami itself.

Gamoc, the reason why the color green comes up is that it’s generally associated to the Xbox. Microsoft has been using that color to represent the Xbox since the original Xbox. They use green in almost all of their promotions. They use green during the startup screen as well as to highlight their console lights. Green is pretty much everywhere when using an Xbox.
If I asked a gamer “what is the name of the green console?” (or something similar to that), most likely they will reply with the Xbox. Same as Playstation is associated with shades of black (after the PSOne), and the Wii is associated with shades of white. Infact, Neither of those consoles associates themselves with the color green. They may have green here and there, but it’s not as prominent in their color palette.
Shatner said:
I associate the Wii with shades of brown, actually.
Blerk said:
Wii is yellow, surely?
Blerk said:
And Playstation’s ‘colour’ is blue, surely? That’s the colour I always associate with the format.

*sigh* I’ll leave now.

I thought Sony was the “greenest” http://www.greenpeace.org/international/clashoftheconsoles/test

Hehe, nice one.
Shatner said:
The greenpeace site is hilarious. The “clash of the consoles” page has a typo in the page title (check your window title bar) and the pictures of Kratos, Master Chief and Mario are just legendary.
Actually Master Chief ain’t so bad, but then it’s not like he ever had a face to begin with.
Thanks for the lols sennassnit.

@ sennasnit: I got the impression PS3 was one of the worst, as it’s plus side was that it contained some bromine free printed wired boards. 360 had the lowest levels of bromine overall and wii had no berylium at all compared to PS3’s and 360’s containing it.
Maybe I missed the point though, and you were just saying that PS3 was greenest as an antithesis to Sreyanotfilc’s et. al. consensus of 360’s being green and excuse to show us the funny link. What made you find it, by the way?

Well this will create meltdowns… When are we getting answers?
I would expect it to be non-Kojima, and on the 360. And that’s an awesome exclusive. 2009 will not be as empty as is made out for the 360.
Anyway we still don’t know… They certainly have teased us before. With the NGC thing, and the FPS thing. So you know, it’s alwasy obscure.
Metal Gear Acid for 360, I call it.

Psycho: No, I’m not that emotionally invested, I was using ‘resent’ to explain what I thought.

MGS4 was a snoozer. Sony can keep it. Kojima thinks way to highly of his mish-mosh, convoluted story lines. MGS 1 was the highpoint of the series, everything else after that… crappola!
No_PUDding said:
Well yes Psychotext…
I just wanted to get a reaction xD
Well mortiferus, I don’t think Sony CAN keep it.
mortiferus said:
@No_PUDding – Agreed, but Konami can keep it.
