CoD stays top of UK chart, Resistance 2 debuts at 10

callofdutywaw.jpg

Call of Duty: World at War’s top of the UK charts yet again, and is looking solid for a top Christmas finish. Men with guns for the win.

Resistance 2 only managed a tenth place in its first week, although it had only been on sale for two days in this chart. Next week should be a better barometer, although with distribution problems plaguing in the game we may be wincing about Insomniac’s latest in the weeks to come.

Last week’s data here. Chart below for the week ending November 29.

Poor old Sony, nothing goes right for them. Problem is, a lot of people will see its poor sales performance as evidence (sic) of below-par quality, and might be persuaded from a purchase. They’d be wrong of course, but that will be no consolation.

I wonder if music fans feel the need to point out the almost every album in the top 10 is stuff we’ve all heard before by the same artists week after week?

I wonder if sites that repeatedly write articles about the charts for whatever industry they cover and have a commenting section for all their articles are so insular as to overlook the repetitve nature of their own behaviour when they’re attempting to criticise (or typically single-out, as they usually do) the behaviour of those that comment on such articles.

You want originality? Be original. You want to be lazy and repetitive? Guess what?

You reap what you sow.

Poor old Resistance 2, that’s some pretty bad timing. I’d have expected a top 3 entry for it at least.

CoD’s blitzing it. I wouldn’t have pegged it for the Christmas number one, but I can’t see what’s going to stop it now.

Yep, I agree. Unless FIFA or NFS surges at last minute.

EA’s normally good at a big marketing push in the final weeks. They used to steal the show with Medal of Honor that way. NFS could do it, I guess, if CoD starts to slow. FIFA’s selling amazingly well.

FIFA is the traditional Christmas number one game, but it’s slipped in the last few years. I think they could still get it back, especially with a well-timed price-shaving stunt sometime in the next couple of weeks and a raft of new advertising.

Do they know it’s Christmas time at all?

Woah, I am actually surprised R2 charted, it didn’t in America.

And Then EUK have had problems supplying it, so colour me surprised.

…it’s a world of dread and fear.

@No_PUD: We haven’t had the charts covering the period R2 was released in (in the US). Of course it hasn’t charted. :P
