Average gamer leaves 11% of games collection unopened
According to a new NPD survey, the average US gamer has a collection of 48 games, 11 percent of which haven’t been opened, Gamasutra reports.
The NPD study polled 562 gamers who have purchased a video game in the past six months.
Just goes to show. Other results from the survey show that 54 percent of those questioned trade or sell games when they’re finished with them, 24 percent give them away, 17 percent store them, and 2 percent throw away or recycle the disc.
Thanks, 1UP.

I find this very common, several people I know just get every game under the sun each year and yet hardly ever play them.
Every game I’ve bought has been opened and completed I don’t see the point in wasting cash or time on a 100 games when 1 game can get the attention it deserves.

I seem like one of the few who does nothing but scrapes through a game.
No matter how bad, if I have started I always finish, unless it’s a small arcade game.

I think 1Up might have misread that one. The gama report says that 11% of gamers have games that are unopened, instead of each having 11% unopened.

I’ve got quite a few games that I’ve bought with the intention of playing, but they’ve only ever been in my 360 once for about 10 minutes and never been back since.
I keep meaning to play them but keep putting it off until ‘later’. It’s just that ‘later’ rarely ever comes.
Most of the time it’s just because I’m playing something else.
It’s probably only going to get worse over the next few weeks though.
I’ve bought FIFA 09, Tiger Woods 09, and Pure recently, and just bought Midnight Club LA today.
So far, I’ve played FIFA for about 15-20 hours, Tiger Woods only a couple of times, Pure for about 6-8 hours but I’ll probably be playing MCLA for the next few days at least.
Then all of these probably won’t get touched again until some time in the middle of next year, because I’m sure that I’ll be playing Gears 2 pretty solidly for the next few months.

As Spiral pointed out, you have blindly quoted 1up’s erroneous interpretation of the original findings, despite having the actual source available for verification… Sort it out!
