Ubisoft releases a new, previously unannounced game, Ode, about musical immersion

Ubisoft has gone and surprised us with a brand new game we'd never heard about before.

Ode is a simple game, where the only real objective is to spread joy (in fact, if we're reading the press release properly, the main character's name is Joy, as in 'Ode to Joy'). You wander through the game's four garden environments collecting stars, which alter the sound and visuals that you experience on the screen.

From the press release: "the gardens are filled with musical plants that emit specific notes to help players to build a musical background in each level. Soft challenges unlock layers to create a unique composition based on the player play style."

It looks quite lovely in the trailer. The game comes to us via Ubisoft Reflections, the developer behind Grow Home and Grow Up. Grow Home was similarly released with very little fanfare, just two weeks after it was announced. It later went on to be a very popular PS Plus game.

You can buy it from Ubisoft's online store for $5, which isn't bad for a new game from a major publisher.

The game is PC only for now, but so was Grow Home when it launched. We'll let you know if it comes to consoles.
