While Aonuma never specifically says the game has been delayed into 2016, the announcement confirms the possibility.

According to Aonuma: "Over the last three months of development, freedom of exploration which has never existed in a Zelda game before we have discovered new possibilities for this game. It now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds even my own expectations," he said in the video.

He goes on to say rather than meeting a specific schedule, the team instead wants to make the most "complete and ultimate Zelda game."

Aonuma wants to use the added time to create a game which will reward fans for their patience.

Because of this, The Legend of Zelda Wii U will not be shown at E3 2015 this year.
