The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and his Square Mind sounds like an neat 3DS puzzler

Delirium Studios has announced it will release its interesting puzzler The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and his Square Mind on Nintendo 3DS this winter.

Based in 20th century Europe, the game stars a well-to-do aristocrat named Baron Von Sottendorff who doesn't know that he's trapped inside a reproduction of his mansion - created by his own lunatic mind.

The player is tasked with helping the poor fella escape his own madness.

"Ever since the announcement of the 3DS, I've always wanted to create a platform game that blended elements of different genres that could use the 3D effect to give users a different perspective on how to solve puzzles," said Arturo Monedero, co-founder and creative director of the Bilbao-based studio.

"The dual screens allowed us to let the user control the Baron and the position of each room independently of each other, the end result being some insanely devious puzzles."

In development since 2011, The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and His Square Mind combines traditional platforming with environmental puzzles. With each level, players will be handed objects which will help unlock memories from his life.

The more memories retrieved, the more he regains his sanity. Recover all of the Baron's lost memories and the player will find out why he went insane in the first place.

Players can also manipulate the 200 rooms in the game by using the touch screen to solve puzzles, and play through eight different worlds, 40 levels and encounter 18 different types of enemies.

The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and his Square Mind will be made available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop.
