Rumor: Project Cafe to have touch screen you can feel

Have you ever wanted to stroke your game controller? Like a cat? Er, us neither. That would be weird. But - hypothetically - that angelic dream might be possible with Nintendo's next console thanks to the wonders of technology and some good old-fashioned Nintendo insanity.

According to Swedish site Loading, Project Cafe will get a few holes in its Nintendo Kookiness punch card (Redeemable for millions of dollars. And a free smoothie!) by sporting a touch screen with changing textures. The site also calls the device the "Nintendo Feel," though the site makes no indication if that's Nintendo's handiwork or just its own wishful thinking.

Apparently, the cornerstone of the touch screen that touches back will be haptic technology, which will allow players to "move their fingertips across a surface and clearly feel the difference between soft, smooth or rugged textures." We fear for our sanity when the inevitable WarioWare game comes out. And we fear for your health if Nintendo approves our killer (mwahaha) app: Pet Sharkz Backwardz.

Perhaps even more out of left field, Loading also reports that the Wii Vitality Sensor (minus the "Wii" part) will "make a comeback at this year’s E3, though not as a peripheral for Wii, but as a key feature of Nintendo Feel." Which, uh, ok then.

It all sounds a bit zany, but then again, this is Nintendo we're talking about. June 7. Save the date. Whatever it is, it won't be boring.
